In the demo it said that a friend was playing the game so I checked the menu by pressing X and it showed that my friend was playing Left 4 Dead, I wonder if this hints that it's possible to play the old campaigns with people on the original game?

Just speculation here though.

I saw the same thing when playing the demo. However, when you click try to join their game a menu says something along the lines of "You should make your friends buy Left 4 Dead 2 so that you can play together!"

I would agree that showing friends playing the original game seems to hint at a crossover being available at some point, though.

I've got L4D1 installed to hard drive and my L4D1 disk in the tray (basically never take it out)....so what's the holdup?

I got a question about that do you have now have faster loading times now thats it is installed? or better FPS? explain if you can because I'm thing about dong the same.

Many games can "see" what you friends are doing online, hell I saw L4D show my buddy playing Fable 2. Just a look on the network at your friends game status, nothing more. I WISH it meant a cross over, yes I do.

There was talk of possible cross-over play, but I assumed it would be another perk only for the PC. But now... I dunno, it seems plausible.

If you can cross-play on the full game, I'd assume it will require L4D1 to be installed to the hard drive while Left 4 Dead 2's CD is in the tray.
This is a problem for me because I'm still using one of the old 20 GB hard drives and it's getting a tad full...

I doubt it, but I don't know since I installed it the first day that feature was available, months and months ago. It's nice knowing I'll never get a "disc could not be read" error in the middle of a game.

Yes, load times are shortned SLIGHTLY. I've read an article somewhere that compared the load times of several games with and without them installed, the results were generally ~3 seconds shorter, with a few exceptions on some games offering 7+ faster loads.

Overall, i'd say go ahead and install it if you plan on playing it a lot, assuming you have the space to spare. I played L4D1 a lot, and installing it seemed to be a good idea. I couldn't notice much of a faster reload (could have just been wishful thinking), but it didn't seem as excruciatingly long loading while a friend was waiting on me to join their lobby.

That, you have less chance of a RRoD and without games running from the DVD drive it doesn't sound like there is a Harrier landing in my lounge room.
