Yeah with the new special infected, uci, double the amount of common infected, less ammo, and smarter a.i., I'd say it's a whole lot harder. I mean, I beat the demo easy, but advanced is more, well, advanced than L4D1's.

Play the Demo on expert and you'll realize how much you hate/love Jockeys.

The game felt easier to me. Then I played with a pub game random people and it seemed a lot harder.
Either it was the total lack of teamwork/experience. Or the game adjusts and becomes harder when you have less bots helping you.

True, I've played almost all pub games, but the few friend games I have played, it's been more fun and easier.

Some aspects seem easier and some seem harder.
There is overall much less ammunition, but much more gun pickups. The problem is, there's a good chance you won't get a gun you won't, or it won't be an upgrade of what you have. The common infected also seem to take more shots to go down, but maybe Valve just weakened the lower tier weapons to make the higher tier ones seem more powerful.
To me, there seems to be much less common infected than in L4D1 though. Nearly every level in a campaign I would have killed 200+ infected (besides the first level, which is always short). This time I can barely break 100. Though there isn't any stats shown after the Park level, so perhaps I'm wrong.
The SI are also a mix of easier and harder. They tend to attack in pairs and groups this time nearly every time. It can be quite difficult fighting off a Boomer, Spitter and Jockey all at once (I had this happen to me during a Tank fight and it was crazy). But the SI seem to go down really quickly and the Charger, while being able to take a lot of damage, rarely gets to our group before he's shot down.

I managed to beat the entire two levels on the Advanced difficulty by myself the first two play-throughs.
Then I transitioned into playing pub games and suddenly I experienced two or three restarts--all for legitimate reasons, like a Jockey outrunning everyone, or a Tank miraculously tossing everyone into Spitter goop--on the Advanced difficulty. I liked this a lot more--even the crescendo felt like a crescendo you would trigger in the middle of a campaign, not at the start. It was much more difficult than my intial experience with it.
There's just something about the human factor that makes games work incredibly well. Sure, playing with the bots and taking no damage and passing through the entire demo unscathed is satisfying--but when you have that one (or two) idiotic teammate who needs rescuing and healing--and in some cases, ressurection--you feel all the more bad ♥♥♥ for being the one who was saving your team.
That and when you're clearly the leader of your team considering you haven't healed once, yet have no health pack because you've been helping you allies, being killed by the Tank, or a special infected--or something that you're all working towards killing but end up succumbing to--you have a challenge to overcome when you restart the level. That's one of the big things I love about Left 4 Dead.

The demo is challenging and I am very pleased with how it turned out. I highly enjoy that I can't just breeze through the two maps in 5 minutes or less. There are constant hordes which are really sweet, plus the UCI, and the 3 new specials which make the game that much more awesome. I can't wait for the full release, this demo gets both my thumbs up.

the spitter is going to be the one to watch out for. one time my health was low and i was in the gray the spitter spit right on me and killed me. when low on health and moving slow the spit is deadly.

I didn't have a tough time getting through advanced with all bots. Expert is a lot more difficult as usual. No doubt it becomes harder without bot auto aim.
I have to say, I'm very excited for versus/scavenge. With humans controlling the new infected it's going to be very cool. I really really like the level layout. Did I notice the labyrinth changing layouts?
This demo is the ultimate tease.
