My closest mirror which is Seattle on steam I usually only get 500 KB/sec to 2 MB/sec. It fluctautes widly what a terrible download mirror.

This is ridiculosly slow it makes me wonder why I buy games on steam when I could be pirating these downloads for free at a solid 12.5 MB/sec

Does anyone know any good 100mbps steam content servers I should be choosing?

You're just trolling and saying you're pirating games, those are bad combination

i mean really, 2mb/s is slow for you? are you on crack?

Get off your high and mighty pedestal already

well $50 for a new game and wait 3 hours for it to download vs $0 for a new game and wait 8 minutes

I dont pirate games but why would you defend steams shoddy pos servers?

.....2mb/s is a pretty decent conection.

Don`t advertize piracy, this thread will most likely be locked

it only jumps up to 2 MB/sec usually it averages around 900 KB/sec which is like 7% the speed of piracy

No 2 Mb/s is *not* a decent connection. 2 MB/s is though.

because 2MB/s is pretty dang fast, most people are still below 1MB/s, 500KB/s is still decently fast, not amazing, but decent

and my L4D downloaded in less then an hour on 2MB/s, really if time is such a hassle for you go buy the game and install it

i download from seattle, and it downloads at a solid 2MB/s

and you do realize that this "piracy" speed that you talk about is not a speed correct?

Torrenting games has no speed, it's all based on who's uploading the game from multiple computers, so a REASON why you may have faster speeds on torrenting (which you say you don't do even though you seem to know the speed that you torrent at) is because MULTIPLE people are sending you the data while as STEAM only has ONE server sending you the data

Now, a cool idea would be to have say up to 4 valve servers upload the data to you at once, that would increase speed for people with faster internet speeds, it can be done, my download manager does that itself, but i don't think they'll implement it

The problem with your complaint is you are complaining about 2MB/s, or even 900KB/s, which is something MOST people don't even get these days due to slow internet speeds, it's pretty much your fault you have 100Mb/s internet before the web can even catch up to it, that speed around the seattle area costs at least 250+ dollars anyways, unless you're on a campass, or something along those lines and you're not actually paying for it in which case they gave you that internet not to use the whole speed but to have enough bandwidth that multiple people can use it

Bottom line here is that in this day in age, 2MB/s is pretty dang good, much better then most people have, and 900KB/s is still not that bad

Your complaint is essentially the same to someone saying "UGH i want a 90 inch TV but there's so few of them! why is it that there's so many 30-50 inch tv's? there's so small!" Uh, duh, because MOST PEOPLE can not even pay for a 40 inch tv, same goes here, MOST PEOPLE can't even download at 1MB/s yet

Crying about downloading at 500 KB/s to 2 MB/s?

How would you like to get a maximum of 30 KB/s?

Didn't think so. Be happy with what you're getting.

Yeah, right. 5-7 MB/S. Are you on Steam powered, or Jet Engine Powered?

Looks like you're trolling mate!
An average of 500-1000 kb/s is not that bad. Where I live (Holland) an ISP of 10+ Mbps is quite common and I don't complain about slow server speed. Just start the download and grab yourself a cup of coffee, make dinner, read the paper or whatever. The other option is to get your ♥♥♥ to the local retailer and get a retail version.

Eek!

at a solid 12.5 MB/secYes, yes, your broadband connection is amazing. I'm guessing that was the real point of this thread.

I think the servers are pretty bad. I have a 50mb/s but most of the time I'm getting 500kp/s and even hass low has 350byres (SP).

Since Steam holds games on its server I would think they would have a faster connection speeds
