My friend and I wanted to play a few rounds of SpecOps, and after a few timeouts we fixed the strict NAT problem by allowing UPnP and port forwarding. We both have open NAT settings. When we tried to connect after achieving that, we now get the error "Unable to connect to special ops host because they're running a different protocol version."
?!?

Theoretically we do, I have a UK version installed on an english Steam client, everything english, but he used UK version disks, too, but during the installation he only needed disk 1 and had a huge 6h download to complete to run the game. He used a german steam client though, and his game is completly in german.
But that shouldn't make a difference, should it?

The language thing may make a difference. Can he try switching to english?
It really shouldn't but it wouldn't surprise me if that is the problem.

How do you switch that? Just by changing the steam client language? When he has time he's going to reinstall, I think. I also should note that we can play normal multiplayer mode together, even in a private match.

Just for the record, it really was the language difference, after he reinstalled and we both used the UK version, we could play SpecOps without a problem.

Everyone who got the German version wont be able to play with people that own the UK/US version.
And this will be pain in the azz for you:
NO ONE GIVES A F|_|CKING SHlT ABOUT IT!
THE PC VERSION DIES!
PS3 & XBOX will bring more money, so why should they bother about us?

Weird, i don't have any problems playing with some friends in germany. Its not the creator's problemt though, blame the stupid countries with their moronic bans. but then again, the person can easily get around that ban by purchasing a copy from an online store.

could someone please specify exactly the steps you need to take to switch the language etc?
I am trying to get a german friend of mine to be able to play special ops with me. I have the US version - what does he exactly (step by step) need to do to get this to work?
