I looked at the trailer which told me NOTHING. I hate trailers that are only cinematic, they tell you nothing about how the game is going to look and feel.

So topic.. any good?

I am not going to comment on the game itself. But i am going to say that this is the worst piece of s*** port i have played this generation, nearly as bad as the resident evil 4 port of last generation. But if you have a xbox 360 joystick, and don't mind the sub-par graphics And really, REALLY love all types of japanese ninja games, i guess you could give it a try... p.s. Yes, i am serious about the need for a joystick. For example it always ask you to press a, b, y or x during a cutscene, ignoring the fact that you are using a keyboard !

Playing these kinds of games with a mouse and keyboard is fail anyway, let's be honest.

Couldn't agree more, but i thought i was the only one who knew that !

also, having played it a bit more, i'll say it's very japanese, and it uses quicktime events like women use criticism, however, you can make them extremly easy in the options menu.

i tried the xbox 360 demo and frankly i really did enjoy it but didn't want to spend the 69 bucks (can) they asked for it.
but at 29$ im really tempted to buy it.

How's the pc port? same graphics as the 360 or are they improved?
Does it have proper widescreen support?

For example it always ask you to press a, b, y or x during a cutscene, ignoring the fact that you are using a keyboard !

weird, when i get a QTE (Quick Time Event) it says press Y and then in huge red letters "press Middle Mouse Button" or press A and then "Press Space"

other then that, just your standard ninja themed Hack 'n' Slash

and yes i do use a 360 controller for playing it if you are wondering.

I do belive you're right, sorry for the mix up. It's when it teaches you the controls, like press x to hit, it dosen't show the keyboard bindings (it's not really that big of a problem). anyways, cool game, i'm playing it with an xbox controller now, and it's not that bad, after the initial disapointment it grows on you. Please note that you might not be disapointed, i just expected somthing else :)

Sorry

For $20 I would have impulse bought it just because hack n slash games are rare on PC, but For $30... but too much.

Force Unleashed is pretty much the same type of game and it's better than this one, even though it's a lackluster port in it's own right. Of course, it's sadly not on Steam (yet).

This game plays just fine with keyboard and mouse. The QTEs are really forgiving. The regular combat is more like God of War than Devil May Cry or Ninja Gaiden, i.e. you can pretty much mash buttons for the win. It's more about the spectacle than about finesse.

I haven't had this problem, so i'm just gonna spew out random solutions, that might fix your problem :)

Try updating your drivers (gfxcard & soundcard), try checking your device manager for problems, try this (unrelated, but useful) guide http://www.programmerfish.com/how-to-fix-prototypes-could-not-find-xaudio2-error-on-windows-7-and-vista/

My nvidia drivers are latest (195.60) and no problems in Device Manager, also windows is auto updated, this is really annoying!

this, maybe ? http://tumstums.wordpress.com/2009/09/29/prototype-lag-fix/ (just replace every instance of the word "prototype" with the words "Ninja blade". Because they're both rather shameless xbox ports, they have a lot in common :)

I can't believe i spent my money on this unplayable game, and i was really excited because i like this type of games, i've completed Prototype without any problem or anything similar to that.

Thx anyway for the help

It's a device issue of some sort. Mine started when I unplugged my gamepad to see if it would be like Mirrors Edge and drop the 360 controller buttons when using M&KB. Once I plugged it back in, it stopped. It's stuttering because it's trying to find something that isn't there.

If you haven't fixed it yet, try going to your device manager, and disable all HIDs that you don't use :)

First, I must say this has been one of the most enjoyable games I have played so far, and yes it is for the PC. Let me defend myself as to why.

If you hate the fact that it is a XBOX 360 port, then go play it for the 360. They are just giving people with PCs the opportunity to play it if they wish.

Second, it is a button masher game. So don't criticize it for being overly button mashing. It would be like criticizing Modern Warfare for being too modern.

Third, it is true that there maybe some games that this company released that were not good. I don't doubt that. However, there are other games that were right on. An example of this would be the Armored Core series, orginally released for the Playstation 1. I have that game in my closet to the left of me, and it was awesome for its time.

Armored Core is another testimony to this company bringing out the style of Japanese Animation. The reason why they have all those outrageous cut scenes is because it is part of the Japanese Animation style. That is what they are going for.

Also, with the freedom of this game, there are so many possible styles. I would say this game on the hard difficulty is like Devil May Cry on steroids. I feel like this game makes you think more than Devil May Cry, and I also feel the fighting is better, with all the possible combos, ninjitsus, and fatalities. There is complete freedom when upgrading your character. They even allow you to allocate a certain amount of resources per weapon or ninjitsu. So you could implement like an investment strategy persay to get some awesome upgrade.

I think it was good that they required you to start over. Simply because there are only 9 levels, each that take about 1.5 hours if you go straight through them. That is about 15 hours of gameplay. Frankly, that is enough for me, because this game I can tell is a huge risk, because it is a first of its kind. I hope they don't give up on this general concept, because after I beat this game, I backed it up immediately on physical media. I don't want to lose this game.

So honestly, I kindly disagree. This game is amazing, my computer runs it fine, and there has been slight technical problems. However, so far their technical staff has been very helpful. I would say the only criticism for this game would to more thoroughly test the technical aspects of the game before releasing it on PC. However the game itself, is perfect in my mind.

I must say, so0ky, if the game can spark that kind of enthusiasm, it must be worthwhile for some people. Again, the reason i was disappointed was because i expected something else (and perhaps a bit because of the "port-iness"). But by reading this thread, people can perhaps overcome that, and enjoy the game more than i :)

Kind Regards

Also decided to start another game on hard. (Impossible is impossible for the wrong reasons. I can elaborate if you wish.) This time I'm going to get the secret ninjitsu. I'm curious as to what it is. And if you already know, please don't say. =)

The replayability is very high.

The story is ridiculous and the action is way over the top, but I'm enjoying the crap of of this game.

I like Ninja Blade very very much. Graphics are awesome and the gameplay with pushing fast A, B, X, Y on my Xbox-Controller rocks also. I like this game more than The Force Unleashed.

A mediocre game. You can pick it up, beat it and that's all, there's nothing more to say. Still, if you like slashers, then you'll be pleased.

it is a very fun game and as stated before, yay finally i can play something like a buttonmasher on my PC. Fact is that the porting is really badly done, although in the update they did put the keyboard controls in action scenes above the a b x y button displays which helps still alot.

Unfortunately that breaking walls for some reason tends to get "bugged" you gotta have an insane button mashing spacebar to break these walls open at some points. Other times it goes fine, therefore i think it is a bug with the mashing part for the keyboard (spacebar). I just hook my controller up and it goes perfect.

I think its great, its a bit hard at times though not even close to Ninja Gaiden ;(

Fun factor: A lot. As long as you dont mind it being COMPLETELY over the top.

Played it on Xbox - probably will buy it on PC as I no longer have it for some reason. Its worth it just know it doesnt take itself seriously and has a lot of QTEs - but is a very fun game. If you have a 360 I'd rather you pick up Bayonetta as its a superior goofy game to this but dont be ashamed to play this at all.

Just beat it. I had so much fun.

I really miss these cheesy 80s action movie stories. We need more games like this on PC. Sad to see so few people on this board. Even sadder to see no recommendations on the steam store page. I made sure to recommend it after I beat it.

I'd recommend it more if it wasn't for all of those quick time events. But the fighting is nice, you can actually run pretty fast and any time you want.

The game also wants to be Devil May Cry.
Voice actors are fine and the story is ok.

You can level up your weapons 4 times I think and you got 3 types of one. Along with a throwing weapon which can get several different elements.

Bought this game via GreenMan Gaming while it was on sale and have to say it's easily worth $10-15. It was so fun to play and so over the top, it was just pure entertainment. I really could not put it down. FromSoftware are definitely on my game developer radar now after this and Dark Souls.

I hate QTE's but the game has a warning system that tells you "okay, qte coming up" so you are rarely caught off guard by them. The animation is just great to watch as well. It's a good button masher, get a controller if you want to play it!
