You need to get 25 000 points from the bonus score at the at the end of a challenge mode level. Its been some time and I can't remember the specific math but each of the special glowing balls give you an extra % of the total score if you survive the round.

So basically you need a ton of special balls, super high score and survive the duration of the round in order to get 25 000 extra.

You mean the glowing balls that add +1 to the multiplier that counts down?

I could have swore I have had a few rounds where it says bonus ball score = XXX, where XXX > 25,000.

Yep those be the ones I mean. I think I recall it being a bit buggy myself. By the time I finished all the challenge levels I had it in my achievement list. If I remember rightly those last few levels are so hectic its hard not to get it ;).

The math is such:

(Note I'm keeping the numbers simple for the sake of explaining this.)

Let's say you get 15x multiplier, and your score is 150,000.

Your bonus is .10 x 150,000, or 15,000, and then 150% (from the 15x multiplier) of 15,000.

So, 15,000 * 1.5 = 22,500 bonus points.
