First sorry for my english, I'm french LOL. :D

I'd want to share a workaround with those like me who had no sound problems BEFORE the patch, but began to experience sound crackling AFTER the first update of the game (For info I play the game on a 5.1 speaker configuration with a Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty on Windows 7 Ultimate x64)... :(

The solution is simple :

- Find your Serious Sam HD config file (SeriousSamHD.ini, generally located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\some_random_number\41000\loca l).

- Open it with Notepad and find the line xad_iMaxSampleRate = 0 and change the value 0 to 44100.

- Save, close and test !

I hope it will help some of you. ;)

Can you please post SamHD.log file here. The one when you have xad_iMaxSampleRate set to 0. So I can investigate what is really going on...

Ok, I finally heard the crackling as well, and from what I could see, it seems it is supposed to be there. At least if the crackling I heard, is the same that everyone is talking about.

When you kill some of the big bosses, after they die, they turn to ash and disappear. During this time youll hear this crackling sound that always coincides with the boss, turning to ash. Im thinking that is how it is supposed to be. Next time you hear it, look to see, if you can see a boss turning to ash. The crackling sound will stop immediately after that boss has evaporated.

No, I'm pretty sure we are talking about poor sound quality in general.

As for me, my game and sound effects sound really muddy and I also get some crackling during intense scenes with my onboard realtek HD audio, which sounds perfectly wonderful in all games but this one.

Sorry to drag this back from the dead, but I'm noticing sound cracking in more intense scenes with lots of enemies... especially a lot of the fights in Metropolis, with all the stampedes etc., but in other places as well. It gets pretty noticeable and is fairly annoying. Running a Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty Pro (PCIe), for the record. There's no stuttering or crackling in other games that I know of.

Hello all, I was having the audio crackling issue as well (post patch). The suggestion provided by Alen in this seriouszone forum thread (http://forums.seriouszone.com/showthread.php?58926-Serious-audio-issue) resolved my issue. In short, by going to

Control Panel -> Sound -> Speakers -> Advanced (tab)

and changing the Default Format to 44100hz (from its default of 48000hz), the audio crackling issues went away. FWIW I'm in Windows 7 64bit using a PCI Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer audio card.
