hi all,
i've read a lot of thread about people having problems with the game, associated with lag (even with a high end rig), and connection problems (even with cable net)
im just curious as to why there would still be these sort of problems for people (sometimes unexplainable problems), even for a 5 year old game?

No matter how good it is, the weakest link still remains. As long as there are "people" there will be problems.

The source netcode is state of art though. Wish all games could be as good.

The new netcode is state of the art, CS:S still uses the old source engine. If they updated it, it would fix some problems. There are problems because CS:S is only updated when there are exploits.

no game is going perfect and will have issues some are just easier spotted then others. just give Valve time to fix the problems before u go bashing them.

Maybe people are just lazy and dont want to find/try to fix their own problem, but instead would rather complain?

Like somebody said in a different thread, it appears that a lot (not all, but many) of the performance issues can be attributed to config issues (old commands, bad settings, etc), and with a major update as this, you're better off deleting your counter-strike source folder in order to get all of the new defaults. Then work towards adjusting your settings.

I dont remember that at all. Source of this info? I do remember other games such as L4D, Portal, L4D2, and Portal 2 (among others) taking precedent over css. I dont remember Valve giving the css community the middle finger.
