Anybody know or understand why sometimes, when I try to open MW2 MP, some error occurs with the syncing of files and steam gives you something along the lines of...

"Steam had trouble connecting to the internet to sync your files with the steam cloud."
Option 1: Click to open MW2 anyway but you may lose saved data
Option 2: Close steam and try again

This happened to me a few nights ago and I have no idea why. It's happened once more just last night. The first time I couldn't play for a couple hours and it was extremely frustrating. Last night I simply closed and opened steam and it worked.

I Google'd the exact phrase (which is not what's above, I'm at work currently and guessing) and only 4 items came up, all in another language. Same thing when I searched for part of the phrase. Then I searched Steams website and it has ABSOLUTELY NO INFORMATION ABOUT THIS... WTF?

So does anybody know what this is or why it happens? I recently installed MW2 on a second PC for some LANing and maybe it's something to do with my ISP or running it on 2 PCs simultaneously on the same IP?

If I click "play anyway," is there really a chance of losing any info, if so, what?

Any ideas?

next time you see it, copy the Players folder in the Call of Duty folder in steam, and press yes. see if something ♥♥♥♥s up. if it does youll have the backup.

actually, its because youre playing from a second system. i assume this happens on your other system, and not your primary one?
i get the same message, mind you, and i only have it on one system.
if youre playing from a second system and this happens you COULD lose some saves and/or unlocks, but if youre playing from your primary system, it shouldnt be a problem. in fact, im sure it wont be a problem.
just be careful playing it from the second system. its because steam is having to get your save details and such from their online database, rather than from your profile folder, and it seems to have trouble connecting to this sometimes.
if youre playing from your primary system, it doesnt matter, because the profile is there on your hard drive, and so is ok. but if youre playing from a second system, and it saves onto the online database, it could conflict with what is on your primary hard drive when you play again from your original system.
hope that makes sense.
good luck (youre going to need it with this peice of ♥♥♥♥ game)

I only play my account on my PC and the second account only plays off the 2nd PC.

I'm still a bit confused, lol.

So does this just mean keep retrying until you reach their blasted Cloud server?
