View Full Version : A way to play private multiplayer games that 'just works'

I'm sure everyone who's ever wanted to just fire up a quick game limited to their immediate friends shares my frustration with this. There's never been an easy way to just play a game. There's always extra hurdles, such as opening ports (which for some reason isn't bulletproof), or using Hamachi.

It'd save many people so much pain if a solution to this problem was included in Steam. I'm trying to play some coop Borderlands with a friend right now, ports are open but still can't connect. Tried hamachi, no luck, despite being able to ping each other.

I reckon there's a lot of money to be made from a means of playing multiplayer games that really does "just work". None of this technological headache we've got to put up with right now, no port forwarding for people who know little about computers, etc.

Sure it's complicated, and there's security issues to be dealt with. It'd just be so convenient to have.
