I hope this may be helpful to some people.

When I attempted to load the game at my house I received a message requesting me to insert CD 1.

I decided to install it at work and found that for some reason some registry entries were not made. My assumption at this point is that it may have to do with the fact that at home my Steam install is on my D:\ drive while at work it is on C:\.

Anyway, here is the registry entries it created for me at work. If you create a MysteriesOfTheSith.reg file and put this in it making any necessary path changes, you should be able to fix this issue by double-clicking the MysteriesOfTheSith.reg file.

Turns out I was wrong. The above hasn't resolved my issue. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks!

Do you have a disc, any disc, in your CD/DVD drive?

For some reason, though the Steam version of MotS obviously doesn't require a CD, it seems that if you currently have any CD in your drive, it still scans it and expects it to be the game CD.

Solution: just take whatever CD you have out and the game should start fine.

Unfortunately, this isn't the case for me. I actually don't have a CD drive installed at the moment.

However, that does beg the question of whether it is looking at my D:\ drive as though it were a CD drive even though it's a physical hard drive.

Just putting this here in case it may help anyone...

Jedi Knight : Mysteries of the Sith requires a CD drive to play. Fortunately, it just needs to think you have one installed. If you install a disc image mounting application like PowerISO or DaemonTools the game will believe you have a CD drive installed and will allow it to be played.

Note that it didn't work immediately after install for me. I'm not sure if I rebooted or restarted Steam, but it works now. :)

I get this message too, and don't have my DVD player hooked up right now. So I will try your thing with Daemon tools now.

Edit: Didn't even need to reboot windows or steam, works straight away now! Thanks :)
