I just fired up Max Payne and ran through the tutorial, gotta say that it is sweet as hell. The bullet-time jumping is sweet as hell slo-mo and camera angles are great. I'm impressed.

The first time I've heard of Max Payne was on X-Play; Phun with Physics. Only way to watch that is now on Netflix, which is gay.

It's nice to see that after all of these years, people are still being wowed by the features that Max Payne helped to pioneer.
I must do a full play -though of Max Payne 1&2 again, they deserve the attention.

These games are superb. I thought the first game was pretty great and had an engrossing storyline, and that the second would be exactly the same, (which isn't necessarily bad, right?) but boy was I wrong! The second is gaming at its peak. It improves on what was already great.

I picked these up from steam for a few quid a couple months back. I figured it was worth it given their reputation - although I'm definitely not a shooter fan.
Just finished the first one and I'm blown away, despite this game being almost a decade old. If all shooters were like this I'd be a definite convert. It's over-blown pure fun - and it has a story!
From someone who games outside of this genre, I've got to say it kicks the pants off of a game like FarCry, which I could never understand the draw of (despite the many acolades it received). I'm sure Max Payne falls under a different sub-genre, so all I can say is if you're not a shooter fan this is the one you should be playing.
I used to be a massive shooter fan in the days of DOOM, Wolfenstein etc. and this awesome game brought it all back. It reminds me so much of the GTA series as far as the shooting goes (although without auto-targetting).
The 2nd one is installing right now and I'm led to believe it is even better. I don't see how it could be, so I'm very stoked!

They should seriously continue this game on a next-gen level.
And, that reminds me, they should continue the old Far Cry story with Jack Carver. You know, the mutant that has the ability to roll over onto his back lol.

I do not agree with another sequel or a prequel to this magnificent work of art until the gaming industry pulls it's head out of it's own ♥♥♥. The only thing being churned out are C rate crap piles. Even games that can give you the feel of an A game is still just a bunch of C list features put together luckily.
The story writing in Max Payne deserves just as much attention as the game play does, which seems to fall very short these days. I would personally go on a murderous rampage if I saw anything less than earth shattering just like the 2 originals. The mental break downs, the betrayals, the deaths, all orchestrated so perfectly and timed. It almost feels like your falling head first into madness with Max.
Each title bends and breaks the rules of the current video game rules. I've picked up both so far and have wanted to replay certain scenes over and over again just to watch it play out the same but different. In summation, I would love to see a sequel, but only if it was done right. Need I not use the example of that back stab Alien vs Predator. Two epic games and remade years later into a steaming pile of crap. Why rework a basic system that already works?
