I know that Chaos Theory has a problem where the mic doesn't work in multiplayer. I was wondering, is Windows 7 affected by this because I've only heard about Vista having problems. This issue has me on the fence about buying because I loved the multiplayer when I originally played the Xbox version. Thanks for your help.

The microphone won't work on any OS except XP. The configuration utility specifically calls upon the Windows XP microphone wizard, which doesn't exist in Vista or 7. The option to configure your microphone will be disabled.

Does anyone know if there is a patch that could fix this? If this is an issue that can even be patched?

It's an issue that could be patched, but it won't be. The game hasn't been patched in years, and Ubisoft doesn't support their games well to begin with (Double Agent is a good example of this).
I've tried to use memory hacks like Cheat Engine (both on the game and configuration utility) to enable the voice chat, and tried seeing if there were any configuration files I could alter to enable it, but I didn't get anywhere.

Darn. I was hoping there might be a community patch. Oh well. I'll pick it up for single player anyway. Thanks for the help.

Just use steam in game voice chat.
