Hi,
I have read the posts and tried all of the little things I can find. How do I fix the Battlefield 2 problem below?
Equipment
-Win 7 GA
-ATI graphics 4200 family
-VIA HD audio using MS HD driver because VIA's drive is not Win 7 ready and there is no update for either
-AMD Dual core 3.0 GHz CPU
-51" projection TV
-4Gb memory
Note: The Section 8 game plays great on above hardware and requires more resources that Battlefield 2
What happens with Battlefield 2
-Launch game from Steam or desktop shortcut and receive the following message, "Account Control - Steam Client Services wants to make changes to the harddrive"
-The above message comes up every time even if I right click on the icon and run as administrator
-EA logo displays with sound over the full screen
-BF2 introduction plays and I press escape
-Game returns to desktop when I select Multiplayer or Single player
What I have done so far to fix Battlefield 2
-Installed without problems
-changed video to 800x600@29Hz (my TV) in profiles/default directory, 00001 directory did not exist
-change one thing at a time under program properties/compatibility and tried to start program each time (lower resolution, disable desktop composition, run as administrator, and other stuff just for kicks and grins)
-Deleted the game, deleted the directory under steam/steamapps, deleted the directory under mydocuments, removed the Registry keys
-reinstalled
