MW2 C4 Activation

So, there I am, setting up a C4 trap with my shield equipped... a guy rounds the corner, I double-tap F, and I detonate the C4... and at the same time, I also forget to check for a weapon underneath me... at which point I switch weapons and get killed.

Is there a way to change the C4 activation button? You can't push G to do it again, because it lowers your shield and, if you've got the scavenger perk on, if you have another c4 in your inventory, you'll just throw it out instead of detonating.

So if anyone has a way to change that, please let me know.

I thought I read somewhere that you can double-tap reload ('R' by default) to detonate it as well, although I haven't tried it myself.

Unfortunately, I heard that as well, and gave it a try... alas, it doesn't work...

double tapping reload doesnt work, its the first thing i tried when i first got c4 (i think in previous cod games it used to work).

Yeah its very annoying, but if it dont work on console then it wont work on PC. We cant even Screenshot for crying out loud.
Lame port job from IW, some simple features and they dont even bother. Just goes to show how much they appreciate the ones who were able to give them their paychecks in the early stages.

Isnt the reload thing in 1 of the menus too? Doesnt work for me either.

What are you talking about double tapping and all this? All i do is plant it with my grenade button and press the grenade button again to detonate it.

Theirs supposed to be a shortcut of just tapping "R" twice to detonate it m8. You dont have to get out your detonator to do it. Also if you have another c4 charge u wont throw that down instead.

Double tap the 'F' key (default for use), that will detonate C4 without the need to reselect the kit slot, you also won't through down another if you scavenged one.

This annoys the hell out of me too. If i have a blast shield equipped but not activated, and a see a grenade rolling toward me, i dont want to pick the ♥♥♥♥ing thing up and throw it i want to put on my blast shield!

Maybe I wasn't clear enough... if so, that was my fault...

The issue I'm having is, I don't want it to BE on my use key... 'cause I love using shield + C4, but if I double-tap use key ("F") to detonate the C4 and a weapon is anywhere near me, I loose my shield AND detonate C4, which tends to be a very bad combination...

At the same time, using "G" to detonate C4 for me usually tends to do one of 2 things: Throw out another C4 (Savenger) or detonate my C4, but to do it that way, I have to lower my shield (?) for some reason and use the remote... which doesn't make sense, since double-tapping the Use key ("F") detonates it without remote...

Basically, what I'm looking for is a way to remap the double-tap C4 detonation away from the Use key, because thats not a very good spot for it...

RRR thats happened to me so many times except with my own grenades, same with cod4 and 5, you spam g to pick up that nade thats by your feet as soon as it says, and you just attempt to throw your own one :<

I used the C4 and I have the same problem. Lazy porting by devs is something I should've expected, but when I heard "Doubletap Reload to detonate", I just tried and failed. Now, I'm becoming better with the riot shield, running high kill streaks and causing much rage...The most common thing I die to is not a bullet from behind, but an amassment of corpses I stand upon, picking up a gun and blowing myself up with the C4 due to crappy programming. Why did they even change it from reload twice?

Oh, one of the great questions of MW2. I am still looking for an answer for this, though it seems it may be impossible.

Its even in the tooltip hints "hit reload twice to detonate" just another feature in a broken game.
