If there's no ingame options (like create a new profile or whatever), you can probably mess with the files here:
Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty modern warfare 2\players
or
Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty modern warfare 2\players\save

Just make sure you don't delete the wrong one's, so make a backup.

Afaik the files contain the MP files aswell. At least it's was that way with MW1.

I think ur rank or level is directly connected to ur steam username, thus saving your info onto the steam server. Just contact their tech support and ask them to clear your stats, they shouldnt have a problem.

lol thats not gonna happen, its stored on your computer and on the steam cloud, which IW don't have access to afaik, and i doubt steam will go there.

Anyways @ OP, Try this it should still work ...

Delete Steam’s Local Player Stats – when clicked, the following five files are deleted in order to reset the user’s rank to zero (rank level 1) in the Steam Cloud:

\Steam\SteamApps\common\call of duty modern warfare 2\players – two .stat files
\Steam\userdata\(some numbered folder)\(some numbered folder)\remote\ – two stat files
\Steam\userdata\(some numbered folder)\(some numbered folder) – remotecache.vdf

Note: in order for stats to be reset using the file deletion method, Steam must be running and the game must not be running.

After you do this join a game and rank up a few levels then exit the game and let steam sync the stats.

I just wanted to add that I don't see this option anywhere on the new UI update. I'm not sure if what you're talking about is on the current steam ui, but it looks like I'll have to do this manually.

Wait till steam is syncing it and then force it to close. It always warns you that you will lose your stats if you do that so its probs worth a go

You COULD use EAM/PSE to edit your stats

Careful bringing that up, I received an infraction from the forum staff for mentioning the possibility of using that to reset a hacked rank. The staff don't really care what your intentions are, just that mentioning it is a no-no,

I'd recommend EAM from BlackDove. I know it's out there but have never used it for those reasons (except for backing up my stats and exporting to .txt for an easier read). Be aware, this still is a type of hack and may get your ♥♥♥ banned.

Here, I've been using the Modern Warfare 2 Configuration Utility (http://www.mw2config.com/) to reset my rank.

This creates backups and different profiles to give you a potential arsenal of profiles, and some other goodies. The way I was able to reset my rank was to disable Steam Cloud, create a new profile in the .exe, then start up a game. Try it out and see how it goes. Good luck. :)

No I didn't. I thought I saw it in the "New Posts" Section, so I figured "Eh, why not?"
