My dad is old and stuff but he brought up something that I thought was interesting..

He said today's computers aren't synced up speed wise compared to older computers when it comes to ram,bus speed, drives etc..

Like for example an old computer:

133mhz bus
133mhz ram
133mhz drives

My computer for example:

2.6GHZ bus(5200MT/s)
12.5GB/s ram(DDR3 1600)
SATA 3Gb/s(300MB/s)

He claims that if today's computers were in sync like the older ones that would run better..lol

Opinions?

Ask your dad if his car would run better if the engine had the same RPM as the tires. Different clockspeeds complicates things, but it's nothing a decent "gearbox" can't take care of.

Besides, I don't think there ever was a computer with every part running at the same clockspeed. The 286 expansion slots for instance ran at 8MHz while processor and memory could run at 10, 12 or 16MHz.
