Bad game

Decent graphics, potential to be a decent clone of a bad game (BF2) but its not even that. Less than 30 players total across all servers at peak times, punkbuster system stupidity, no single player campaign to speak of and awful latency problems even with less than 100 ping = this game is the SUCK. I mean, epic suck... "Shellshock 2" suck. Well, maybe not quite that much suck, but not far off.

There's no way to even give it a chance because there's nobody playing it. Glad it was free. DALEETED.

PS: I only posted this in the hope someone else who bought the uberpack over xmas will see this and realize its not worth the massive download. Don't waste your time.

I bought the game retail way back when. It's not a AAA title for sure but nothing wrong with it.:) SP was a descent length for the mission pack length games we get any more from developers. I personally couldn't care less whether a game has MP or not and has no bearing whatsoever with me on the quality of a game. With me it's all about the SP experience. Your the one seemingly basing the whole value of a game on MP. I'm sorry you dislike it though .:(

Not sure how you can say the game has no single player campaign. There are 8 different campaigns, each with 3 or 4 missions, then there are 2 extra SP maps once you finish the game.

I tried the MP but it was hacked so bad I never went back. The SP is good enough on it's own for me. I love this game. It's the one I load up when I'm bored or waiting for something new to come out.

Only 2 MP games I play are ETQW and Shattered Horizons.

I tried the single player for a couple hours, it seemed really scatterbrained, exactly like I would have expected BF2 single player to be had it attempted a storyline (for the record I don't like BF2, either).

The cinematics were well done but the story was a joke, the voice acting was bad, and the missions simply weren't fun at all. That's just my opinion though, I can see where certain gamers might like it, and I don't think its a truly "awful" game, its just a real bargain bin title for people that are really, REALLY forgiving. That's not me though.

Wondering if I should give ARMA2 a try, heard a lot of good things about it (and a lot of bad things, too). I love hardcore sims and have an extremely powerful rig with track ir, so I'm the target audience... perhaps. :)

It's not a bad game it's just unplayable for anyone with a dual core 64 bit processor on Windows 7. If they aren;t going to fix it they need to pull it from sales.

for 9 bucks this game was kinda ok. short and silly SP campaign, but if you play it at hardcore difficulty it'l last a bit more. (and just becouse you will die more easily..) the mp is quite dead as of today. personally for that price i didnt feel too bad.

arma 2 is awesome, and at the same time terrible. awesome becouse no other game does what arma manages to do, and it does it incredibly well, terrible becouse even with the latest patch, the game feels still rough around the edges. the ai goes from astonishing to stupid, campaign objectives tend to get messed up by broken scripts, sometimes things dont spawn when supposed to, etcetc.. since the scope is really big (you will start as grunt with no command capacity, to squad leader, to BUILDING and managing whole bases yourself... yes, almost rts-esque like.) toward the end, the spectrum of your military operations is so huge that it can become a bit daunting, and the more complexities you add, the more easily the game has chances to glitch and behave in odd ways. thank god saving your game at any point after 5 patches now WONT ♥♥♥♥ up the scripts... that said, if the game "clicks" with you, it will offer countless hours of fun and real military tactics.
i love and hate it for those same reasons. ;)

for comparison, i found OP flashpoint dragon rising a VERY dumbed down version of what flashpoint used to be. almost like a linear shooter, with no real tactical or strategic scope, always feeling that you cant do much more than what the computer expect you to do. the combat is tighter in opfdr and definitely easier, but arma 2 is completely different, you have a real open world to conduct your military operations as you see fit, wich for me wins hands down. waiting for nighttime, managing to infiltrate in an enemy base, and coordinate a perfect assault with different teams (all created and geared by YOU) while requesting support assets from the base, then get away in an APC to capture a prisoner to interrogate and, say, an hour after aiding local guerrilla fend off a russian counteroffensive is as close as you will ever get to the real thing :p

if you like hardcore tactical sims, arma 2 is, for now, the best thing on the market. a powerfull rig is mandatory imho, but hardcore pc gamers should all have one :D

I got this for the 360 in the bargain bin at Target and for that price thought it was great. Picked it up for the PC on a Steam sale for cheap. For those prices it's a great game. It reminds me of Battlefield Bad Company. The open world is great and the selection of zoomy future weapons and vehicles is great. Y'all need to stop judging games by their MP because compared to CoD and MW nobody plays MP. Frankly if you can fill up a server you've got enough players, doesn't take thousands.

It was a decent game. Got a bit boring near the end of the game but single player was decent, gameplay wise. Right weapons for the right situations and can be action packed. So it was quite decent for its price.

I just wish these MP ho's would stop judging games solely on the MP. Most games aren't Shadowrun with only a MP and have a SP element to them also. Wish they would be more specific as to whether the SP or MP disappointed them and stop making broad statements such as "Bad game" that generally only apply to themselves.

its matter of what you think your money is worth. with MP the games' longevity is extended greatly. the MP part is also something tbat limits piracy (somewhat) since you need a valid key to play on PB servers.

Agree. But, this game had an excellent SP side, with a few "secret levels" as well. The MP was hacked the first day. I could not stand the huge maps and getting "head shot" as soon as I spawned. Reminded me of why I hated BF. I have played the SP of this game at least 10 times, it is, and always will be, one of my favorite shooters.

For MP, my clan has it's own ETQW server. Low ping and no lag. :D

Wow, I bought the game in a package, I absolutely love the style of combat compared to BF2. Shooting a weapon has more realistic feel to it. The single player campaign was killer, I couldn't stop playing it till I ran through it on all levels.

I do agree the MP part of the game is lacking due to not many people giving it a shot. I had no issues with the game at all, enjoyed every single minute of it. No idea what you were expecting but I find it meant my expectations especially since I bought it with 40 other games for $80. lol :D

I bought FFOW the last year on a Steam Deal... is the only reason why I still use XP (Since I couldn't run it on Windows 7 or Vista).

I've installed a Creative Soundblaster X-Fi XtremeGamer card.. and the sound effects are awesome on 5.1. The graphics are cool, maps are HUGE and well designed.

Unfourtunately for most people is not playable on modern Windows versions and that killed the awesome multiplayer.

OHH Yeah... I agree FFOW could be a great game (much better than Battlefield 2142) but was poorly coded.

I'm expecting that FFOW 2 (aka Homefront) won't bring the same deffects.

I enjoyed the game single player very much. Multiplayer was fun while it lasted, but sadly the servers are mostly empty. I got at for 7 euro during x-mas deal and it was well worth the money.

did i read correctly, they are making a part 2 to this game?

who the would buy a game from these devs, if this game is truly broken and about half of those that bought it can not play it and devs never fixed the issue.. :confused:

only reason why am interested is because its 85% off the retail.. i enjoy FPS games, not many of those around its seems, 3rd person shooters seem to me the rage and i hate 3rd person shooters..

I agree this game is somewhat lame, can be fun periodically with enough people on the server, but has anyone even mentioned how good the audio in this game is? If anything this game has some of the best warfare sounds I've ever heard in a game with maybe the exception of BFBC2. Just thought this is a strong point the game has to retort against this thread. You really gotta love the WC assault rifle sound. I'd say for the current sale price, and if you can even get it running, its worth it to at least "hear" how amazing the game is.

i have never seen or got the game running,only saw clips on youtube ,so i have too say sad,i only got because i was told how good it was ,but unless i change or build a new system,i never see,at moment thats not happening,at least not too just play this game

OH yeah baby!!! I understand you perfectly... I have a 5.1 Equipment and on Windows XP with my X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Pro the sound ROCKS! is unbelievable if you switch to Quad (in your sound setup) you can turn on MacroFX and Elevation Filter... amazing!! you can hear perfectly enemy steps behind... choppers above, airplane roar engines... far explosions... yeah.. amazing job done.
