View Full Version : The Vanquisher plays miserably

Why is the fire button and the move-to button on the same mouse click? I can't tell you how much HP I've lost because my guy was like OH LET'S GO RUN UP STRAIGHT INTO THE FRAY RATHER THAN SHOOTING AT THE UNDULATING HORDE OF ENEMIES. The problem is that a lot of times the monsters move way too fast to get a 100% accurate click on them, meaning that a lot of times I'm heading to the enemy rather than shooting them. This has made my Torchlight experience incredibly frustrating and tedious, where it might have otherwise been a blast.
Is there any way to fix this? Any way to make the attack maybe like mouse3 or something?

No. Doing everything with the same mouse button is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ design, but you can use shift+click so that you won't move; the downside is that you won't then auto-move to attack if you're too far away.

That's why I haven't really played the Vanquisher class, only Destroyer and Alchemist. You can assign attack to RMB though I believe.. not that that would do you much good.

Pretty much use shift+click. It'll work a lot better than nothing, but it's still not free of annoyance since shift click on items is for having the pet pick them up as well.

Yeah, I just used shift click. Chances are, if you have a keyboard button or extra mouse buttons you could probably bind it to that, though I have yet to try.

I use shift+click but the problem is still that if you shift+click in the wrong spot, then you miss your shot. Also, range; if you shift+click an enemy who is barely out of range, your shots will not reach the enemy, yet you will stand shooting.
If you just click normally, your character will walk up to range and shoot and will hit most of the time (unless something is in the way or if you're on a bridge).
So I think Runic should add a compromise between them. Maybe allow attack to be added to right-click, that way if you right click, you will not move, but if you right-click an enemy, you will move in range and attack.

Stick with it and eventually you stop doing this. Practise makes perfect as they say. You might have a problem each time you enter a new area and encounter enemies whose movement patterns are new to you, but eventually you get used to them all and will soon be clicking on them efficiently.

Not everybody can track diablo-style enemies like that. I've beaten diablo 2 twice and still trip up on this. Shift click does solve most annoyance though.

Yeah this is painful, maybe it'll be fixed in another update.

Heh thats why i made my vanquisher in rogue tab instead, also proves better usefulness  as mainly in wow hunters really don't do well(they do but thats yet again becuase they aren't the best, the best classes aren't huntards) in pvp either in PvE but atleast they can have a weapon too xD but thats another thing i just like damagers like rogues gives you perfect crits for the most :D
