I'm just wondering if anyone who has the full game can tell me whether this is updated to the latest (1.04) patch.

Version should be somewhere on the menu I hope... easy to see?

Please let me know.

can't find anything on version history anywhere. the main menu is...unique... to say the least. however, if its on steam you can rest assured the game has the most recent developer patches and updates.

Not necessarily. There is actually a list in "General Discussions" which has a running list of games which are not "up to date" on steam as far as patches go somewhere.

I'd really like to find out before I buy this. I can't stand unpatched games.

Perhaps there's a "Readme.txt" in the game folder with the version in it? Changelog.txt or something similar? IDK :-(

You are quite right, ReadMe.txt says it's version 1.04.

Here, have some patch notes while I'm at it:

v1.04
-------------

* Fixed invalid reference when using Clairvoyance on a held object
* Fixed some cases where a failed asset load would later corrupt the game
* Localization adjustments to UI
* Non-US keyboard support

v1.03
-------------

* Changed StretchRect filtering for machines that don't support linear filters

v1.02
-------------

* Added fallback to software vertex processing
* Added toggle for smart camera hints - improves mouse behavior when disabled
* Added toggle for camera altitude dampening - improves mouse behavior when
disabled
* Added enhanced error reporting
* Fixed bug where collision type could change mid-game and not be recognized
by some systems
* Fixed bad pointer reference to console upon exit
* Reordered shutdown sequence
* Fixed bad pointer reference to index buffer upon failure

v1.01
-------------

* Fixed an autosave issue near the end of the game
* Fixed crash on cpus that don't support SSE

Phew, bought it before checking the unpatched-thread.

A game that's up-to-date on Steam, not too common these days.

Just d/l the demo on steam before I click the buy button. Contents of my readme file from the top:

Yeah, the demo is 1.02, that's why some people have problems with the demo but not the full version.

It doesn't address the disappearing duster though.

Read the changelogs below. How do we get this escalated?

Well the changelog posted above didn't address the duster issue, yet when I check mine it does so part of my idea is out: I thought it was not the right version. If you clicked on any of those links and examined the changelog you'd see that they talk about the duster issue.

Also, in the future, making someone hunt through a collection of links is kind of...a pain, you might want to link directly to the resource.

It wasn't much of a hunt. Pick one, click on it and look at the changelog. The idea behind posting a link with a plethora of patch links is to illustrate that it is a legitimate patch and not some kind of malware-in-waiting.

I submitted something already.

I submitted something already.I did do that, but didn't get complete changelogs. Most seemed to have a download link and not the changelog. It doesn't matter really anyway, and even more, I don't want to end up in a pointless argument, so, whatever.

Well apparently the game is up-to-date, despite the issues some people have been having with the disappearing Cobweb Duster.

The full version goes to a black screen eventually over and over and is unplayable for some including me.

There is no fix for this issue that I've been able to find.

I bought this excellent game last night and have been getting some intermittent crashes with an error code of 0xC0000005 but only during loading screens or when exiting the game never while playing.

I did notice when I hovered my mouse over the Psychonauts.exe file that it appeared to be v1.02 yet the retail game was patched to v1.04 to fix a memory leak among other things. So is the Steam version up to date or not?
