endless launch loop

When I hit play in the morrowind launcher windows asks if i want to let morrowind.exe make changes to my computer. I hit yes and then the steam message "preparing to launch morrowind"comes up and brings me back to the launcher.

I've deleted morrowind and reinstalled it but the problem persists. I'm on windows 7 64-bit. Any ideas what might be causing this?

I'm getting the same problem, after trying to run it in compatibility mode because it wasn't working properly for me in Windows 7. Let me know if you find a fix - I've tried running it straight from the exe file and stuff, but I'm still getting this launcher problem.

EDIT: Right, I've fixed this (somehow). I made a copy of the game files elsewhere then copied them over the originals. Not entirely sure why that worked, but it did - it probably erased some obscure system setting or something. Either way, a bit odd, but it fixed it for me.

Yeah, I have this problem too. Any explanations or remedies would be nice. Thanks.

EDIT: It works when I turn off the UAC setting, but I'd really prefer to leave that on.
