View Full Version : Tips to avoid level/xp hack

I think its a good idea for us to prevent more people to face the terrible lvl70 hack in hacked matches that IWNET ITSELF throw us in.
- If you see a lobby full o lvl 1 people, I mean at least 4 ou 5, GET OUT QUICK. There's a huge chance thats' a pirate party.
- If you enter a match that already started, before killing anyone make sure the total number of players is 12 (if you're looking for a mode that isn't ground war and you're seeing 18 players, you're in a hacked match - LEAVE). Also, make sure gravity is normal.
- If you're placed in any match that the map is RUST, be very careful and follow the steps above. Its the most used map in hacked matches.
- I heard that if you get leveled up to 70 in a hacked match, if you BEFORE THE END OF MATCH control + alt + del and close your game there's huge chance to your rank to be saved.
- If your runing too fast and you're not using marathon/lightweight, LEAVE the match.
More tips are welcome, I think its a matter of serious concern. XP/rank hacking are ruining lots of people experience and should not be treated as a minor issue.

This one goes without saying, but... if you join a game and people are flying through the air, leave before firing a shot. This happened to me 3 times right before the .180 patch, so I don't know if it's been permafixed or not (I haven't seen it since), but something to watch out for too.

I also recommend backing up your saves (or just copy your Players folder into a backup directory, renaming it to your current status)
If anything seems fishy about a game you join, and you go ingame, wait until some people get a few kills (atleast!) to see if you were correct, and someone indeed changed variables.

Doesn't work, online stats are saved in steamcloud.

Thanks for the heads up. Got a couple quesitons...
Are these servers common? I havent seen any.
If I don't notice I'm on a hacked server and get ranked up to 70 (and ctrl alt del doesnt reset it) could I be VAC banned? May seem like a nub question but I don't want to take chances.
TY in advance!

Sammy, you won't get VAC Banned. Don't worry.
And the control + alt + del thing is not to reset it (altough some said that it used to reset scores), but to preserve your rank beforwe you entered the hacked match. If you suposedly get to lvl70 in one kill, if you immediately close the game by control + atl +del you would get the same rank you had before it got hacked.
As I said, I didn't try this to see if works. So the best way is to avoid the hack, in first place. Just don't kill anybody if you see something unusual as listed in the first post.

Anybody that post or create threads in this forum must like the game to do so. If you like the game, I think you should be concerned with this. Otherwise, just follow your own tips.

If IWnet happen to have dedicated servers, who won't have to go through this.

Gemmy, I agree that dedid would be better
but lets get over it, not going to happen
The thing is if IW wants to build a matchmaking system then do it right, because so far we got hacked matches, people playing with pirated copies (the most outrageous and unbeliavable flaw) and multiple bugs, conection problems, lobbys closing for noreason, lag.... if they fix all this... we won1t miss dedis.

hey thanks for the tip about the low rank, I usually don't have a problem because I only play HC playlits, but recently I am trying to get the challenges for the regulars so I'm trying to avoid getting throw into one of those.
+rep for a thread that shouldn't have to exist!

I miss those domination games in ground war on Rust that just never ended. I managed to actually get all of my weapon attachments for everything and had more camos then on any other playthrough. Also even though you never got the bonus xp you were still getting way more kills way faster and I felt that I got to prestige as fast if not faster than a regular run.

my opinion on the prestige cheat for modern warfare 2 isn't the most serious issue that Valve and IW should be dealing with. I mean, yes, it is a cheat, and you get to the highest rank in the game within a matter of minutes if not seconds, but that's that individuals action, and in these cases, an accident but can be changed when the bug is fixed.
Since IW doesn't deal with the aimbot and wall hacks that Modern Warfare 2 has going around, VAC has tried using their system in banning hackers from the game. But sadly, it isn't enough to slow the rate of which the hackers are showing up. In other Valve games, dedicated servers is the ideal of having the players run their own servers and can ban people for disobeying the servers rules... example: people who are using a scripted document to made their crosshair auto attach to hitboxes. Due to IWnet's customs, dedicated servers are non-existent and hackers cannot be banned from public servers right on the spot, it takes time before VAC catches up to those individuals and find their steamID and perma ban them. Time is the key issue that most people have trouble dealing with.
I think that Infinity Ward and Valve should come together in some kind of discussion on having the players of MW2 try to solve the problem of getting hackers kicked out of the public servers by popular vote(including prestige hacks). *This voting system will not ban the hacker nor show up by VAC*, but it will help the public by having hackers being kicked from servers and idealizing the true fun in paying money for a game in order to play it online without dealing with this problem every other server they join. With this system, it won't slow down the amount of hackers being banned through VAC, but it will satisfy the public community.
I'm sorry if this is off topic from the prestige hack but I had to just say that in order for my opinion to be viewed by others and hopefully administrators of Valve.
TY for your time,
- MountainDew

I don't really understand what the tips are for? I have never once encountered a match with people flying through the air or anything crazy like that. Could someone elaborate on what these xp hacks do?
I just leveled up from 69-70, but haven't completed my prestige, so I'm curious as to what this is all about.

If you are doing the ctrl + alt + del "tactic", close down steam before the game.
Steam is what makes the game sync your gameplay, saving the progress.

Just spec any game before you enter. If you see it is a hacked server I just leave or you could just dashboard out to be safe. I have never had a problem doing this.

I actually look forward to a straight up hacked Rust Domination match. They are quite fun and have the feel of old school FPS games. If I get into a hacked match, I watch the feeds and the TAB menu to see if a XP cvar has been changed, if it is, I leave, same for any weapon or speed changes.
But if it's just Infinity/Uber Large Score Domination as the only change, then I'll stay to rack up the kills and work challenges. Good type of game to see who really has skills, and going 832:364 KDR is fun.
