Playlist update available for download ?

I got this pop up ingame. I was Idle for awhile and just came back and It said "Playlist update available or something like that.


Anyone else get this?

Im gonna try to recreate the error. I was idle in a game and obviously was gonna get kick for inactivity. I came back 1/2 hour later and that error or popup was there.

That's not an error; IWard actually did release a playlist-update. I got the same pop-up after a TDM-round. Perhaps this playlist-update fixes some things about modified servers.

Or perhaps it removed modability of carepackage-probabilities.

basically IW implemented a system that allowed them to make seemless changes without hindering the user, unfortunately almost none of the systems they implement work so they have a play list update they want to launch but it won't stick la la la.

Me and my clan mates just tried for 20 minutes to get into a game... one of us always gets dropped and this playlist message pops up.

Yeah the playlist update started this afternoon. About 2:00 pm est. It did it once and that was it. Now this evening it has been doing it non stop. That and the dropping back to lobby at the end of each round is new (meaning that the lobby thing did not start till tonight). Also while playing with friends if any of us got the playlist update message it would drop that person out of the lobby if we were searching for a game.

If you ever been to the IW forums, you would notice now that they dont come into the PC section anymore. They still havent explained or even said anything in awhile.

This shows how they appreciate their customers. Even Valve will tell us that they are aware of a problem when there is one.

Same issue here but it stopped finally. However, it's still acting funny. It won't show me my totals after the game is over once you exit the match. Won't show any of the guns I have unlocked and all the other stuff it usually shows. I'm hoping this is all due to something new that they are implementing as far as IWNET. *PRAYS*

In all honesty, I don't think it's the game's programming that is at fault, this time. The version is still 180, so chances are fairly good that the issue is actually steam related. Think about it, the game utilises steam for it's multi-player and the glitch makes reference to level and unlocks, which, if my understanding is correct, is information stored on the steam cloud

i validated the files and i havnt had it pop up so far, but then again ive only played 2 games cuz im about 2 go out :P but does any1 know if this will be a physical download which will show up in steam? or is it more of a background thing you dont actually notice :/

the thing i find most annoying is this i enjoyed playing in 'sabotage' but since this update i can now only access 'Team Deathmatch',but only about 1/10 attempts.That as well as being kicked back to the lobby after a game,then takes longer to connect to a game than to play a game.

Great Infinity Ward, just great. Now every time I join a game, when the timer goes 10-9-8-7-6 etc.. I get that playlist update bla bla notification. I click ok and I get kicked from the lobby..

the crap is happening on my end as well. Constantly booted back to the main lobby. I get the downloading playlist updates but it really isn't doing anything.

Whenever I find a game it drops me out 4/5 times now and won't even FIND a game under 120 Ping. It used to at least be somewhat workable, now I can't even have fun.

I get the aforementioned 'Online Status' box as well whenever I try to play a game and it won't let play until it's done. I just want to click and game, I used to at least be able to do that.

My game keeps syncing every time I turn it off as well, and the lag is more unbearable than it has ever been. If this doesn't change then I'll just spend my time on something else. IW fix it! I've supported IWNet. You owe those who have put trust in it a workable system.

I hope this is addressed tomorrow. I can't frag noobs so I'm just going to bed.

Aw screw this keep getting error I'm just going to uninstall the damn thing its been nothing but a pain in the ♥♥♥♥ since it was released and a complete waste of my money. Well not a complete waste it will serve as a constant reminder in my steam list to never buy an Infinity Ward or Activision game again.

So yeah well done Infinity Ward in your quest to get us to buy DLC you've probably lost much more than you would have to piracy or talented modders. You have made insane decisions that have angered nearly a decades worth of fans into not buying your game and certainly not any DLC and I for one will be showing you and Activision with my wallet I wont put up with this nonsense by not buying any more of your output and advising others to do the same. In a much grander sense it also puts me off other games that are developed for the consoles and ported to PC so well done for possibly denying my money to more competent developers aswell, seriously well done.

Got it as well and now everytime a map ends I get put back into a lobby doesn't allow as it used to to continue to the next map round. Totally awesome! (sarcasm)

You know, I was on the fence with IWnet. I was thinking "hey, all new things have birthing problems, who knows, with some awesome additions to the system, it could really be the next step in online gaming". So I chunted on through, accepting the problems as mealy bugs to be splatted once a patch comes out.

Now at 1 week and 3 days of owning the game...

Wall hacks galore, constant "could not migrate", never being able to play rust as its always hacked (both times there were nukes with 24 hours to go), lag causing me to be killed, lag getting me kills but being called a "lagger killer" because of it, like I have some sort of control over the internet, IWnet doesn't have that much control and they made this....this....thing!

So in short, progression is all well and good, but the wheel has worked fine for a long time.

From what I have been told, the game doesn't have enough rule buffer space in order to start the patch download, and updates and such go through the IWNet, not steam. So chill out, you can all still play it just takes a little more time to get into a game, not the end of the world, IW will probably come up with some fix to it.

Same here and for all my friends. We get split after every round with the playlist error and have to reform the party. Same error when I play by myself after every round also.

I have the same problem, and in addition, the hosts that got picked for my last few games were absolutely laughable, in a very frustrating, laggy way.

One hour, got to play 1 full game, 3 half games that didn't finish due to the game lagging out and booting me back to menu with no message, and then getting numerous playlist messages while trying to find a game.

i managed to fix it somewhat ...i hope
i shutdown the game, restarted steam
went to my games, rightclick codmw2 and go to properties
then go to local files and do an integrity check

i did this for both normal and multi player
then i went ingame again

now it still kicks you out of the game
BUT it did show my game summery then, by itself like it should ( it didnt do that before for me )
but with the multiplayer main menu on the background :s

and it still gives the "there is an playlist update available" msg

That is another thing I wonder about. How come none of the gaming journalists at g4tv, ign, gamespot, gametrailers or any number of infinite gaming media outlets mention anything about the unbelievable number of cheaters? Seems all these sites do anymore is create hype for big name studios.

We released a playlist update around noon (Pacific Time) on Feb 2nd on the PC Version of Modern Warfare 2.

I understand many users are reporting disconnects after player one or more matches since the playlist update. We're aware of the issue and will be releasing another playlist update soon to address it. I'll keep you posted on any further details that come my way.

Dunno if they fixed it already but I tried opting in to the Steam beta client [as that fixed the 'host two games & get disconnected' bug from a week or two ago] & haven't had the playlist update message since.

This is the 2nd time this happens time. The first time I fixed it by replacing the file mp_playlists.ff with the one my friend had who was able to play the game fine. This time I did the same, but still no games available.

Can someone upload a working version of mp_playlists.ff and post it here?

I'm having this SAME problem. Constant "Playlist update available" messages, getting kicked from the lobby after every game, matchmaking for all modes takes forever and struggles to connect me to other games. Validating game files doesn't fix this.

What the HELL is going on? Are they fixing this?

IW isnt fixing it but I think a random player did.




go to:

Steamfolder/steamapps/common/call of duty modern warfare 2 (or whatever it is named)/zone/german or english/

and rename the mp_playlists.ff to mp_playlists.ff.backup

it should run nicely.
