Downloaded the game off of Steam. Installed all necessary items, launched the game, added my CD Key and BAM. I get:

"The video card in this computer has insufficient onboard video memory. Blah Blah Blah"

I have 2 nVidia GTX 260s in SLI:

My DXDiag:

System Specs...

Windows 7 Ultimate x64
DirectX 11
eVGA X58 Mobo
Intel QuadCore i7 920
6GB DDR3 1333 RAM
(2) nVidia GeForce 260GTXs in SLI (896MB ea) in SLI

Yes, I did uninstall all nVidia drivers completely and reinstalled the newest today (196.21_desktop_win7_winvista_64bit_english_whql). Same issue.

Thanks!

Well, I guess its just a "check" because when I hit "OK" and play anyway it works fine.

probably has to do with SLI. But thankfully it plays fine.

How are you running DirectX 11 on DirectX 10 GPUs ?
Your video memory is more than adequate (896MB) to run this game with the nvidia settings maxed out in the control panel.
My 8800Ultras (768MB) in tri sli run this game 8x AA & 16x AF.
I had a problem with the 196.21 drivers crash/lockups/choppy frames, installed the 196.34 beta drivers fixed my problem...although some people have tried this with no luck in sli (beta drivers) and some have. I'm running win7 pro 64.
Nvidia's website says that the 196.21 drivers can have a problem with OCing. If your running the EVGA video overclock program it can cause problems in some games.

PC too powerful...cannot compute...

I have a similar rig (except nowhere near as good ram or cpu).

Win 7 Ultimate x64
Asus P5N-T Deluxe Mobo
Intel E8600 3.33GHz Core 2 Duo
8GB DDR2 1066 RAM
2x BFG GTX 260 in SLI.

works just fine for me. All I can really suggest is make sure you are running at stock speeds, try restarting your PC, etc etc.

Well, this is a super bump, I know, but I'm having the same problem as this thread. My specs are here:

I know my specs aren't the best, but I ran the game perfectly fine up until I got an error message and the game quit itself. After that it didn't work, and none of my games did, not even CS:S. Any assistance? I think my graphics card is dying.

Doomish, what was/ is the error message you get? And do you use any program to monitor the video card's temps? And are all your games on Steam? Because there was a Steam client update the other day that could have very well messed things up.

Try first to verify the game files. From the Steam taskbar icon, choose Libraries, right click on the game> Properties> Local Files tab> Verify.

If that doesn't work, copy and paste your "steamapps" folder to another folder on your hard drive, uninstall then reinstall Steam. Copy that "steamapps" folder back into the folder and all your games are there.

Well, reinstalling my graphics card drivers worked, and the game started up fine, but then... tried it again, and it still didn't work. It gave me the error message "Bioshock 2 has encountered a problem and needs to close" right after the 2k logo introduction videos. I meet the minimum requirements for the game, and it ran perfectly fine with a good even framerate the first time I did it, it was just after that crash it never ran again.

Specifically, it crashes right after the intro cutscene that introduces all the different 2Ks of the world. After the video finishes, the screen goes black for a second, then the error message in the title pops up and gives me an option to send or don't send a report to Microsoft.

Every time I try to start the game, GFWL tries to download an update of some sort, and it gets almost finished before the game quits itself. Could this be my problem? Is there a manual way to patch the game?
