Finally some good news.....
PC Patch 3 & Dedicated server Beta 3 Release notes - 19/03/10
PC patch 3 and Beta 3 of the Dedicated server has been uploaded to Valve and we have asked them to make it live. ETA is unknown, but it should be today.
Release notes are as follows;
Game Client
New Features:
- In multiplayer damage from the Predator's Smart Disc has been reduced, unless it's a headshot.
- In multiplayer minor hits from the Predator's Plasma Caster bolts will no longer knock down enemies.
- When joining a dedicated server on which a round is in-progress you now have a limited time to choose your species/team and skin before entering the game, if the game mode and server settings allow this.
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed clients not always being correctly notified that the game had ended.
- Improvements to the networking code used in dedicated server games to increase stability and reduce pings.
- DX11 optimisation when using tessellation
- Fixed DX11 gamma controls on NVIDIA boards
- Return to the server browsing screen instead of top-level menu when you fail to join a server
- Fixed the lobby timer not always displaying correctly on clients.
- Improved 'SayTeam' console command
- Improvements to ranked matchmaking
- Fixed occasional problems with peer-to-peer games after playing on a dedicated server
- Fixed rare multiplayer bug where all players would be disconnected during level load if just one of them had a network problem during the load.
- Fixed a cause of clients sometimes getting disconnected when pressing ALT+TAB or ALT+ENTER on the end-game scoreboard.
- Fixed predators being able to cancel other players’ Plasma Caster Lock-on.
Dedicated server
New Features:
- Dedicated server no longer needs the Steam client to be running.
- Dedicated server can use DLC maps.
- New console/config file commands for dedicated server for friendly fire, team balancing and species balancing options.
- New console command to set a Message of the Day
- When joining a dedicated server on which a round is in-progress you now have a limited time to choose your species/team and skin before entering the game, if the game mode and server settings allow this.
- The dedicated server now installs to a standalone directory, and the install size is now ~2.2GB instead of 15GB
- Improved feedback and output for various console commands
- Improved server console output when players disconnect
- Improved server console output when there are problems starting the server
- Additional server console output about the Steam connection
- The dedicated server will now also be available via the “HLDSupdate” tool. Please note that while we believe there should be no problems as both the Steam Client version and the HLDSupdate version are identical, we cannot test the HLDSupdate version without making it available to everybody. Server administrators are advised to install and use the HLDSupdate version using their discretion.
Bug Fixes:
- Prevent "Adding Master Server" console output looking corrupted.
- Fixed team selection not working for the first map hosted on a dedicated server
- Made the ban list file have the server’s port number appended so multiple instances on the same hardware are independent
- Improvements to the networking code used in dedicated server games to increase stability and reduce pings.
- Fixed cause of clients thinking the host had disconnected at the end of a game which actually ended normally.
- Fixed predators being able to cancel other players’ Plasma Caster Lock-on.
- Fixed an issue where dedicated servers left idle for an extended period of time would result in the first match played having the clients "running around without their bodies attached".
- Setting the Autostarttime to "0" now correctly turns this feature off, rather than attempting to instantly start the match upon players returning to the lobby and kicking all the clients.
Additional note:
Due to some improvements to the networking code, the new server and client are not compatible with the old versions. Clients who have not yet restarted and updated their game will not see updated servers in the in-game browser and conversely, any servers that have not been updated will no longer be visible in the in-game list for clients who have applied the update. Both new and old servers will be visible in the Steam Client server list but players will see an "Incompatible Version" error message if they attempt to connect to server which has not been updated.

Ok folks,
now after 1 week of tears and fears. I think its time to get constructive. This topic is dedicated to the dedicated server.
So all the future admins should answer only. And please no dry your eyes mate posts. (Cry elsewhere, please I beg you) rofl.
Ok to get back to the topic, I want to discuss what you guys think is neccessary an admin should be able to manage his server and how the multiplayer itself can work better. Just e few thoughts.....
1. Players should be able to join ingame, thus not have to wait for a round to start from the lobby. Pretty odd when people simply just jump out of the game and the server dies by itself...
2. Admins should have the right to adjust the following settings.
- Predatorhunt -
- alter the time of being predator 2 - 3 - 5- 10 minutes - invinite
- option to give pred presetweapons or not
- make predator stronger/weaker (e.g. more or less health)
- set motion tracker on / off or motion tracker field only to front not back
*** Give admin option to set number of predators, think its quite hard for an predator to fight 17 people just spraying the pulse....
- Species TDM -
put an option to enable/disable a race
- general topic -
*** Stealth Kills on/off mate. So many people want that (not me really, but I've seen that it's quite a popular request on these forums). - thx to Khasim
- enable disable certain weapons, not in order to OP, but in order to make it more or less a challenge. People could make servers where pred only has the stick, or no disc or or or ...
Marines could only get a certain weapon etc.
*** - Enable/Disable flares for marines in MP (thx to this thread http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1161174)
- set ammount of flares per marine 2 - 3 - 5 to prevent spam and slowdown for slow systems
- enable / disable motion tracker or as mentioned above allready set the angle of motion tracker, e.g. 90°, 120°, 145° angle to the front....
- give admin the chance to make a cycle of gamemodes / maps
- admin should be possible to give certain gamemodes different presets as mentioned above.
- enable disable voip
- Basic commands (how could i forget that, thx to Vladplaya)
Kick / votekick
Ban
Chat mute, Voice Mute/unmute
Slay
votemap
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++
ok just a startup i will try to update when good posts are made.

Thx to D_TOX for his improvements for PredHunt (origianl here http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1152264&highlight=fix)
Thumbs up How To Fix: *Predator Hunt*.
Predator Hunt is the best online mode in my opinion however it does need some work. Here are my suggestions.
* Limit ranked games to 8 players max - 1 pred - 7 marines. Any more than this and the maps just become a massive marine pack-hunt where the Predator is gang-banged at every corner.
* Allow the Predator to start with a weapon. Either the shoulder-cannon or spear, as these weapons are both at the low end of the weapon scale.
* Give the predator more extended time with each kill. It just doesn't seem enough at the moment. You finally manage to pull of a kill without a million marines ganking you, then you find yourself needing another almost instantly before your time runs out. Give us more time!
* Change the motion tracker device. Its stupid that it distinguishes between friend and foe, this completely defeats the object of the motion tracker - at the moment it's practically an aimbot, the minute you take a step forward you have 5 marines on top of you.
* Fix cloak in certain locations. Sometimes you can see a cloaked predator so easily its not even worth putting it on. I was sat in the dark with my cloak on and people were killing me without so much as a flashlight.
* Make the shoulder-cannon more powerful. When you use it you might as well de-cloak and pull a moony at the marines, but to add insult to injury this thing sucks even when you do manage to get a direct hit. Make it a tiny bit more powerful please, alternatively make the tracker locate targets much quicker.
* Give the Predator better spawn locations. He frequently spawns in front of marines however this may be partly due to the excessive amount of marines in some games.
With these issues dealt with i think Predator Hunt would be near perfect. We have lots of maps and its hell'a fun but at the moment it feels more like the Predator is being hunted and the Marines are the hunters. There is no sense of power with the Pred unless you have really crap players.
