View Full Version : BFBC2Game.exe Doesn't Die When Exit Game

I was having trouble earlier with randomly getting kicked from servers almost every time I joined, and also started getting punkbuster heartbeat errors. I finally noticed after exiting the game again that I had 2 BFBC2Game.exe's running in task manager. Killed those off and started the game again then played fine until the login servers for EA just died apparently.

However everytime I exit the game I notice that it leaves the BFBC2Game.exe running and I have to kill it off. Anybody else having this happen? First game I've had trouble with in as long as I can remember. I have been seeing other posts of peeps saying they keep getting kicked from games, you guys might check for this and see if this is the same cause for you.

Your the only person thats having this problem. Probably a program interfering with it thats keeping it open.

Good to know I'm not the only one. Oddly I don't think this was happening with the beta. I almost bet that this is also the cause of the people getting kicked from the games, at least since I found that and killed it off, then I quit getting kicked. Could be a coincidence but dunno, hope they fix this issue, I imagine they will.

it didn't happen in beta. running win 7 64 / nvidia/quad as well, but i doubt its system related. its most likely an error in programming.

also watch for gameoverlayui.exe
it can stack multiple time when you open and close the game
leading to bad perf.

Same here. same specs. I had 3 instances. It's been happening almost since day 1, however it's not limited to steam version. I am running the DVD version.

Having the same issue. Logging out of EA before exiting still does not solve this for me. I always have to end the process in the task manager.

Server Browser also still broken.

Actually many have this problem. I made a threat about it.
I think it's a problem with steam or the nVidia drivers.

"Made a threat"? LOL

It's not a Steam issue, as I have the CD version.

This has recently started happening to me to, the only things I have done that could possibly be causing this are the following:

1. I updated my nvidia drivers to 197.13
2. I installed EVGA Precision to monitor my GPU temps.

Same. Damn annoying too, since it looks like I'm in-game 24/7 if I forget to kill the process.

Same.

Also, when I click "Exit Game" the game just freezes and I have to alt+tab/C+A+D out to force quit...THEN go into Processess to close it.

*edit* forgot to mention it was fine before the latest patch, plus my general FPS has dropped a bucketload.

I had this issue but I just updated to the latest drivers 197.45, seems to have sorted it.

Win 7 U / nvidia / AMD AM3 dual core.

Will update if not.

Yes, a few more games and the process finishes every time.

This started with the last patch for me, so I'm assuming Dice knows about it and it'll be addressed soon.

But until then, here's a simple fix...

Open notepad and paste this in:
taskkill /F /IM BFBC2Game.exe

And save it with the .bat file extension. Double-clicking this file will kill the BFBC2Game.exe process and restore your Steam status.

Here's one pre-made that I've been passing to my friends: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/26096/kill-BFBC2.bat

I've got the same issue. I have logged out and it doesn't help.

The Steam overlay also stays open, because the game is open. EA needs to fix it.

Same problem here but doesn't bother me that much.

I have it aswell but even worse than the common issue. My games freezes as soon as I press the "exit" button. I then have to open taskmanager to kill it.

Anyone else has the "Punkbuster hearbeats" problem? Its very annoying, I get kicked on 80% of all servers, and its hard to find servers that dont kick. BTW, I DID update Punkbuster manually
