PLEASE CHECK YOUR CONNECTION AND TRY AGAIN.

I was playing for a good 2 hours. Took a break, took a shower, open it up again, I get this message every time I try to join any server at all, I get this message. This happening to anyone else? Am I doing something wrong?

ya i cant seem to join anything and if i do get in a game i get booted like 2 mins later I was playing fine earlier.

been happing to me all afternoon, worked fine this morning. i'm guessing they just underestimated the load there would be on the EA master servers. it's to be expected though, nobody ever has a smooth launch of an online game...

I can't even get in though, I can sign in no problem, choose my soldier, see my stats, next rank is 4 but I can't join any server.

They never underestimate the load.
It's just not worth spending the cash to allow for the load until it's proven a necessity.

They'll throttle the servers up a notch or two, this will be forgotten in 2 days, and they'll have saved a bunch of money.

So we actually get 3 days of gameplay more than you guys so that means that by the time you start playing rank 0, theres gonna be guys rank 10 with better weapons than you, having the time of our lives while we kill you.

My game just randomly closed while playing single player but it asked me to restart Steam for an update so it restarts, I go to my games...Bad Company 2...updating..... ghost update fix? Heres hoping :)

Yeah, this is happening to everyone trying to play. On the BC2 forums everyone is complaining as well. I agree that EA dropped the ball, but in all honesty every company that releases a online game drops the ball now a days. SWG did this, Champions Online, Star trek online and the list goes on and on. I hate it that this first day horrible releases are the norm now.

But EA will probably fix this by tomorrow or at the very latest this weekend. Sucks.

I'll connect and play for a while, then I'll either get kicked or quit, and get told this exact message when I try to log in next.

some times later it will be fine...

pretty much the same thing here. i was able to connect to one server over seas with a ping of 129 for about 10 minutes. then nothing. not even updates to my stats. single player is magnificent though, but a bit like a console game.

Same, same. Either it's this connection to server error or punkbuster kicks me. I'm kicking myself now because this is one of many reasons why I swore I would never buy another EA game.

Same problem here after playing one round on a server I get kicked with that error message. Now every game I join it happens in the first 5mins.

I fortunately able to join some of the servers.(yeah I had 80%of servers
with same problem.)
Make sure you update your punk buster. You have to go to punkbuster website
and download htm files and paste it into your steamapps=>common=>bfbc2=>punkbuster folder(not sure)

my problem is more than half the servers I joined were not ranked server
nor could bring out my weapon load-outs.(not sure if it is server configuration or
just a bug

this is what i did, updated punkbester (go the punkbuster site)

then i verify the integrity of the files on steam and it started to download again, aprox 300MB after this im able to join any server :-)

I did this, and disabled UAC in Win 7. It has worked for me thus far.

Well do not fret over the download time. Because you will most likely not be able to connect because EA failed at something and beta was pretty much worthless...

They should have called it a DEMO.

In the real world BETAS test, patch and solve problems...

Thanks UnknownError. I downloaded pbsetup.exe from PunkBuster's site, and updated all my PunkBuster games. That fixed the problem for me.

Validating the files in Steam didn't for me, they were already accurate. But the problem seems to have been PunkBuster!

Yes getting this problem in July now, And type in my steam cd key in multiplayer still getting this message in favourite server, Why oh Why does EA do this to us every game, great game, dam they are very frustrating EA/punkbuster:mad:

It happens to me sometimes as well. I'll usually be on for about an hour or so and the server will start lagging and I get booted. I can still get back into the game, browse and join servers, but it's aggrivating when you're in the middle of an awesome round.

wats going on i can log in but when i try to play online it says lost connection server, wat the hell is going on, why when its a long weekend this always happen, took off from work thinking i would be playing bad company all weekend and cant even log in this is sicking. they must have downloaded a ♥♥♥♥y patch as usual.:mad:
