View Full Version : MW2 Stat Tracking Website

Though I realize BFBC2 is coming out in a few days, I'm quite sure a lot of people will still be playing MW2. Hence I'm releasing my stat tracking website.
It started out as a way for me and my friends to view eachothers stats, and keep track of cheaters by allowing search for extraordinary kill/death ratios or headshot kills. It's developed into a nice graphical user interface with a few more options. Currently the database only contain me and my friends' data, but with your help we can increase this easily.

That actually looks pretty cool, just like those siggys for the free FPS games with KDR and stuff. I'll consider it.

Shameless self bump.
If signatures is something you wish, I can add it.

Thanks to the guy that uploaded 80 MB (!) worth of logs the cronjob crashed and I had to parse it on my computer ;). But there's now close to 11.000 different players in the database, so you'll be hard pressed not to find yourself in there.
Even so, if you aren't in the database, upload your log files for more accurate results ;)

I *am* tracking by GUID. Which is unique like SteamID. That's why, for some people, you see multiple names when you view their profile.

And by archiving, I mean zipping or rarring it, indeed. A 80 MB log file will only take up 4 MB zipped.

Thanks everyone for uploading their log files. Over 17.000 players now.

If you cannot find your key by searching for your name. For you Im pretty sure this is your profile: http://kalkran.com/mw2stats/stats.php?key=0110000101a2765c
You can start a Private Match by yourself, and then End the game right away, you'll have a record like this at the end of your log file:

0:00 ------------------------------------------------------------
0:00 InitGame
0:00 J;01100001038dd3b8;2;Ted
0:14 ExitLevel: executed
0:14 ShutdownGame:
0:14 ------------------------------------------------------------

My name is the last part, and the guid/key is the part after the J; and before the next semi-colon.

Thanks for all positive feedback.

Edit: Just thought I'd clarify, your MW2 GUID is (as far as I know) not related to your steam ID

As soon as they get processed you will be able to see your stats. When you upload your files, it usually takes no more than 20 minutes (sorry, a lot of people are uploading and it's working non-stop).

Added searching by steam ID #. Found out they are slightly related, so the search is anything but flawless. Worked fine for the few test cases I threw at it though.

Kalkran
03-04-2010, 11:47 AM
The stats on there are from the people that have hosted games you were in.
There is no other way to accurately track these sort of statistics apart from 'server logs'. Which is what these are. You only get a log file whenever you host a game.

I noticed that on your database there's a guy that goes by {KIA}Tupac.

{KIA} clan is notorious for being full of hackers. I am not accusing anyone here, only pointing out the fact that some of these profiles are bogus or entirely inaccurate.

Great idea though.

Kalkran
03-04-2010, 12:51 PM
@Lazakiller
Considering the Tupac guy shot about 55% headshots I'm pretty sure it's obvious he is a little dodgy. Like I said in the first post. It started out as a way for my friends and me to share our log files and pick out hackers.

Like I said before, the data on there is dependant on *you* only. I can't get the log files from servers (obviously since there's no actual servers). So I have to ask here for people to upload them.

The only stats shown on there about you are the stats from the people that have hosted games with you in them and uploaded their log file for processing.

I know I've hosted over a hundred games, and my NAT is open. /shrug

Kalkran
03-04-2010, 03:28 PM
Let me write this down one more time.

When you are hosting, entries are added in to your log file. If you are playing a game which is hosted by someone else, your data is *NOT* kept in your log file. This is why you're 'missing' stats, the people that were hosting haven't uploaded their log files (yet).

About the steam ID search; it's an approximation, because there is no direct correlation between your steam ID and your MW2 GUID. It takes your steam ID and turns it into the MW2 GUID it should be, then cuts off the last bits and shows you all results for GUIDs starting with those same digits.
So for example you have steam ID 123456789012345678. This is in MW2 *literally translated* 0110000018468ac1120 (both made up numbers). But the actual ID you are using ends in 1129. This difference is different for everyone, so instead you'll see all GUIDS that start with the same 14 characters.

just a question about uploading the log file.. I read that you need your NAT to be Open in order to upload the log file?

Then I have a slight problem, my internet modem (which also serves for TV and telephone) sometimes crashes/resets out of itself.. It then sets my NAT to strict.. after a while, this can suddenly change to Open, but I haven't found myself a solid way to instantly (and manually) get my NAT to Open everytime this happens (It's Strict as we speak). How will this affect my stats?=/

56 kills with nukes*. The only way to keep track of anything is by kills/deaths/damage.

And Rshock. Please read the post two places above you. When you *host* a game you're adding unto your log. When you're in someone else's game, your stats will be tracked in *their* log.

Oh right, completely forgot about that ;). I'll get to it first thing in the morning. Thanks for uploading the log files.

And to Random Name, those people are still in the database, it's just not considering people with less than 500 kills (will be increased when more people upload logs) for a place in the top 10 as when you're host and some guy nobody's ever played with goes 10-1 it'd set him on top with a 10.0 ratio =).

Np if you need help running or design of things hit me up i am very knowledge in PHP and java i could make some java scripts to automate peoples sigs for forums and such.. just send me a PM or get ahold of me on steam if you want. Also i got a fairly large number of people and a community i run who play MW2 who i could mass message to upload would help alot.

It only keeps track if you are the host of a server. But when someone else is a host on a server and they upload there stats and say you played in that server they hosted your stats would also be added to the site under the same alias.. so thats why its good if more people start going here and uploading there stats becasue when you upload your stats you are also uploading up to 11-17 other peoples as well!

Thats something else need to add to the site. but let me know kal.

The database needs to be refilled over and over again right?
By this I mean that I (and everyone else) would have to upload my log file, say, weekly in order to have some accurate stats, right?

Revived2009

does this count privet games?

Kalkran
03-07-2010, 02:22 PM
It does not count games which are already in the database (determined by the firstblood attacker, attackee, weapon, time and damage in the final shot), doesnt count games with less than SIX different players over the whole game and doesnt count games less than a minute in length.

To Rshock, no the database doesnt need to be filled over and over again. Statistics are updated with each new log file that is uploaded. This processing happens once every hour, and will also update the overall statistics page.
I have been thinking of processing all log files over again, but this would take over an hour / two hours with almost 2 GB worth of log files atm.

what you will find is that the hackers will rise to the top 10 and you will see their true stats, like the #1 guy on there whose Headshot is 69%. No different than any other game the top of the leaderboards are filled with hackers the true good gamers are far behind.

ado010
03-07-2010, 10:04 PM
The true good gamers are only far behind the hackers. If you can tell who the hackers are, it's easy to isolate them.

Anyway, I was thinking to have a program to supplement this website. A small program to find the log file, archive it, and upload it to the website. Maybe this way we could get the website to grow faster.

It *is* being ran on a dedicated server. It may not be the fastest ever, but so far it handles the load without too much difficulty.

KillJoy, I realize, from your previous posts, that you would like to be involved, which is fine. But I am very self conscious about my coding and don't like working with code other people wrote. Nevertheless, once I clean up my coding and add some comments - I'll make it available for download and open up a pastebin-ish site for suggestions.

Fantastic idea, added to your rep.

I am frequently host so I will upload mine as often as seems reasonable.

And nobody who has ever hosted a game with you in it has uploaded their log file.

To get back on the cheaters dominating the 'leaderboards'. I am working on adding a 'report cheater' button and after enough reports it will automagically remove those players from the leaderboards. You will still be able to find them through the search interfaces, but not in the leaderboards.
I will have to implement a check for this though, as the potential for abuse is massive.

Any cheaters other than aimbotters will be hard to detect. I like that you're implementing this idea though, something to at least check up on the cheaters.

How many log files can the server handle?

I feel like this is going to be big.

OK time to commit noobicide.

The place i am looking for this information, its the logs folder right ?
I have checked the files in there and nothing looks like the text that was quoted earlier on in this thread.

Site loads pretty slow for being dedicated. hoping its on a linux box for thttpd or similar services and proper configs are done. I will later when i get home make sure its a secure site itself since you are "conscious" about working with others, others may have to get involved themselves lol will let you know if anything is wrong on our end.

The scripts u have wrote itself to take log files and turn into proper wording and output onto site itself is nothing that hasnt been done befor or can be done in few hours of work just didnt know you made it for a self project as you are asking everyone else to chip in! anywho gl with it glad to see you updated the index.

The site isnt loading slow for me at all, at most a second per page load. Except for the overall stats which take a few seconds to load because it's summing a ton of rows, also fixed in the new version.
A possible reason for why it may have been running slow is that I use the same box for downloading movies and it may have been unpacking Inglourious Basterds.

And I'm not a ♥♥♥♥♥♥, I know how to set up my unix box, configs et al.. So, yes, the site is secure.

Unfortunately that was one of the main reasons the OP started the site.

If everyone uploads their data, we could find out more and more cheaters.

Yeah, the creator wanted to make it obvious who's cheating. I think HSP stands for headshot percentage. Anyway, pretty much was Laza already said, only when people host do the stats of the game get logged. So the more people uploading the log file, the more accurate this site gets. That's why I'm disappointed to see that it has slowed down.

people finally figured out how lamess their 12 KD ratio looks and makes it obvious they hack so they stopped uploading their info...

This is why stat tracking will never work on PC, all it is, is a top 20 hackers in the game.

nice work here OP.

I find it extremely funny, to myself at least, that I actually deleted the games_mp file roughly 2 hours b4 seeing this post. it was over 170,000 kb big. Not the first time I've done it either.

I always get host - even when streaming net-flix on the other PC cuz IW-Net is smart like that. So I will help your site grow from now on.

Once again, nice work!

personal preference - black backgrounds == annoying and hard to see

weird, something must be wrong with my log file. It says I only have like 450 kills and 500 deaths when I have four times as much in my barracks stats.

Also when I look up my steamid, there's a bunch of aliases listed that aren't mine lol.

Yeah, it seems to be bugged for me too. It shows me as having less than 1000 kills, when I actually have around 20,000.

Maybe it updates gradually?

Stats are only logged by the person who hosted the game. There's very little chance that you have all of your stats logged in your log file. That's why if more people upload their log files, the more accurate the stats will be.

I hate to break it to everyone but this style of tracking site will not work very well and here is why.

Host files only track your stats while you host a game, they only keep track of stats from hosted games, so unless you have some crazy ♥♥♥ connection, like 80MBPS, its unlikely that you will/have hosted even 60% of your games.

Found this out today, renamed my old log and finally was able to host a few games. Once I came out of MW2 to check the file it was only 133kb and only had the 2 games that I hosted logged.

Stats are only logged by the person who hosted the game. There's very little chance that you have all of your stats logged in your log file. That's why if more people upload their log files, the more accurate the stats will be.

Actually it won't be more accurate, they will never have even 60% of their stats listed, I would say that, unless they use hacked servers, the average person probably only hosts 25 to 40% of the time.
