So anyway I saw there was a "Cheating AI" as there is in all Sup Com games and was wondering, A:what cheats do they use? and B:is it possible for humans to use said cheats?

Its basically just a difficulty level, as the first time i played against an AI of that level was able to build faster than me and always seemed to know where my units and his units were imposible to kill
The devs are having fun naming stuff in this game and the AI doesn't cheat in a human sense the devs are just saying you will never win 1v1 against this thing

Except in Supreme Commander 2 the cheating AI is laughable at best and still easy to beat. Yes, the games last about 40 minutes but myself and several others I play with don't find them to be difficult to play against.
It builds at an extremely accelerated rate and appears to have infinite resources. Other than that, all you have to do is counteract the strategies it uses and it's easy. It uses a lot of air so lots of anti-air turrets makes the game pretty much a cakewalk. You just have to outlast him until you get a large force of experimental units as it generally sends them at you one at a time.

Search for "game.prefs" I need to know which version of Windows you are using to tell you more? If under XP it's in the
C:\Documents and Settings\Username here\Local Settings\Application Data\Gas Powered Games\Supreme commnader 2
Open the game.prefs with notepad or text editor and put
debug = {
enable_debug_facilities = true
}
near the end of the file BEFORE the last squiggly bracket.

Ok thanks guys, and yeah the AIs are pretty easy (although I do have troubles when they send out massive numbers of air transports loaded with tanks...)but anyway you, that last guy there, whats that haxxorz do because I dont like modifying files unless i know what its up to. The again I may as well try it and change it back if it's stupid.
EDIT: I use Vista >_>
EDIT 2:I found where the Game.prefs SHOULD be but all that is there is a "Replays" folder
EDIT 3: OK I think I found it but its called GameDataPath and has all the squigglies and stuff -near the end is
}
cachedFiles = {
"/gamedata/lua.scd"
}
EDIT 4: I tried addin in the line of code you gave me but i think it's either the wrong file or I placed it wrong, I'll try again

I know this works in Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance but does also apply to Supreme Commander 2?

Wait so if you type that in what does it do?

ok scratch all of this the Debug menu is only for the demo and is blocked in the main game- and for general_bays and captJ27 I heard it allows you to spawn any unit from any faction at the cursor, however like I said this option is restricted to the demo version only.
Cheers!:p

With that said, we need CHEAT CODES for Supreme Commander 2 (Non-demo)

In the config file there is a line which says
CheatsEnabled = 'false',
....
grimreapingfluf

As far as I can tell, the 'cheatsenable' bit is a preference option left over from Supcom one, back when you could enable cheats in skirmish and such. But I could be wrong, would love to see some cheats though.

Er, wait, if the Demo has cheats unlocked, there has to be a way to unlock them in the main game. Something we're missing mayhaps?

Did anyone figure out how to enable the cheats on the game?
grimreapingfluf
03-11-2010, 09:09 AM
As of yet....
sadly no. My first guess was that it was disabled because of achievements, but I remember other steam games like Portal and Half life 2 have cheats enabled.
My current guess, they cut them out to ruin our fun (kidding of course, but feels like it.)

So there are no cheat codes for this game?

Why would you even want cheat codes..

I can't speak for everyone but I use them to enhance my game offline. I play for fun, and I like doing silly things. Like in FA, I'd spawn a 10 collusus, five for each army, and just watch them go at it, just silly things.
Aesir Rising
03-15-2010, 06:33 AM
I would use them to test out scenarios. It decreases the setup time if you can grant units, specific research, and mass/energy. For example, I had to sit and watch 110 engineers get produced so I could see what the factory veterancy bonus for unit production time and resources was at end-game. I'd like to avoid such exercises if possible.

For fun. Simple as that, it's fun. 'Bout it. But, still no cheats as far as I can tell. Sadface

Do we contact Gas Powered Games for Cheat Codes?
grimreapingfluf
03-16-2010, 04:01 PM
Doubt they'd go out of their way to tell us. There's gotta be something we're missing, I mean it just makes no sense, the cheats worked in the demo, just not the full version. So they either moved something or just did away with console all together...which would be stupid, because it has debuging features that come in major handy.
Aesir Rising
03-16-2010, 06:34 PM
The console may have permitted loading the vendor-exclusive maps. Just a theory. I can't recall if you can do that in SC or FA or not. I'm also suspecting that this is why we have no mod packagers or map creation tools.
grimreapingfluf
03-16-2010, 06:41 PM
God knows, but I want my spawn unit button back! I liked just doing silly things...
Like seeing how many instantaneous nukes I could have go off before my game crashed.
Good times...
grimreapingfluf
03-16-2010, 08:55 PM
I may be doing it wrong buuuuut.
None of those cheating devices work.
On the note of editable units, Supcom 1 and FA had full mod ability, some mods going as far as to do total conversions, IE, Black Ops, and it still had the devconsole.

For the people noting that cheats worked in the demo, its because you were able to modify that config file. The config file is now locked and hidded from our view in the full version and thus cannot be changed, disabling cheats.:(

Give it a while as the game is patched it will break previous trainers.
grimreapingfluf
03-16-2010, 11:23 PM
Hidden? I think not.
I've found it before. It's under C/documents and settings, application data, etc. Same place as it was before, or possibly, I'm not following you. Which is known to happen with me! But nothing stays hidden... I mean, it has to be SOMEWHERE. But I've found the config file, but... not sure what to add/where.
Aesir Rising
03-16-2010, 11:43 PM
The folder is hidden by default (any appdata or localappdata folder is) but as admin you can either unhide it or view it anyway by opening the containing folder directly, e.g., on 7x64:
Start | Run
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander 2
<enter>
grimreapingfluf
03-16-2010, 11:45 PM
Ah, I see what you mean by hidden then, I don't consider 'hidden' folders hidden... I show all folders on my comp. But anyway, we know where the config file is, but not what command to use to make the cheaty-cheaty happen, that be our problem.

My issue is if people manage to use cheats online.
grimreapingfluf
03-17-2010, 11:40 AM
If the cheats work like the old games, they can't and won't, believe me. In skirmishes and multiplayer games, the host had to enable cheats for them to be used in a multiplay or skirmish game. And if some cheats, or tries to cheat, the game would say "X is cheating! if on or X is trying to cheat! if cheats are off.

I did the "Cheating = True" or whatever but what are the cheats? Are they the console cheats or the ALT+*something* cheats?

I haven't used it, but the thread linked above for the console mod did have some info on that. I also know it didn't have complete info so you may need to google and/or plow through that forum where the console mod is posted to see what you can find.
I haven't used this yet - I'm still just messing with the ..\Gamedata\ folder contents, or I would be more specific.

We use cheats to handicap in family and friends multiplayer games.
Not only does SupComm2 not have in-built handicapping, but it now doesn't even have cheats.
In SupComm1, my brother would allow me to add via cheats resources buildings at the start, to give me a resource handicap. Otherwise, he is too skilled and would wipe me out, so the game wouldn't be fun for either.
At the moment for SupComm2, we have to use head starts for a handicap (i.e., he allows me a five minute head start, providing I don't rush), or I get two hard AI allies.
In sum, Gas Powered Games please enable cheats. Those who don't want to use cheats won't. It's ironic that in recent years game developers have been taking away features that used to exist in older games, such as handicapping (see, for example, Age of Empires series) and now taking away cheats.

Funnily enough, I've got a friend who would actually pwn me quite soundly in SupCom1, but in SupCom2, the one match we played, I actually managed to pull a victory with a commander-snipe.
