I also bagged a double HS with one bullet from a good distance at this crazy narrow angle through a window and two internal doors - a throughly Woot-Worthy moment!

Ignore sniper QQ'ers, they just are not very good players - they don't know how to move with cover, minimize target points, cut angles, think about where a sniper might be etc. Of course, everyone knows 40mm are totally fine lol.

At any rate, I agree with you there again, can't count how many times I have saved a base, captured a base, saved a team mate, spotted enemies for the team, blown up tanks, brought in the rain etc.

nah, just the vanilla GOL. spotter scope too i guess, that helps by putting the nice orange tick mark over the enemy

Speaking of "spot" kit - how does that work. I have it on all my rifles setups and assume it is adding a mark t the map - does it only add the mark for me or how does it work - do I need to press anything special or does it work likes it says - just by being fit?

you have a 'spot' button; default is 'q' i believe, i rebound it to mouse4 on a logitech g5. from what i can tell, it makes it easier to pick out enemies vs regular spotting without the addon

basically you do the same as you would spot with any other class, any other weapon; put your crosshairs over (well, near) the enemy and hit the button. it puts the orange mark over the enemy, which is visible to all your teammates, and also marks them on the minimap, again visible to your entire team

so you can peek out for jsut a second, spam the 'spot' button, and very quickly pick out where there are enemies, a lot faster than i can visually recognize anyways. and if you spot an enemy at a distance and your teammates kill them, that's a quick 20pts for you for just marking them

I don't know why you think snipers do not move forward, this is a huge over exaggeration and mis-representation of a few lame players. I move forward every game, as do 90% of the snipers in my games. Once I get too close for long range sniping, I switch to M1A1 or Saiga and get up and in the mix with the medics and assaults taking bases and such. Once the game moves out again I switch back to sniping. There is a reason each class has multiple loadouts possible with different ranges, styles, pros/cons etc - lol - do people really think each class is a 1 weapon class?

Still havn't got the GOL, I keep unlocking this craptacular auto snipers.

Does the spotter scope flag people up automatically, or keep them spotted for longer? Mine doesn't seem to do anything at all, and lots of people from the EA forums have the same issue.

gol is the 3rd to last unlock iirc. then the vss, then the m95. vss is worthless though, and m95 isn't as useful as the gol

as far as i know the game doesn't keep track of it, a little message pops up right after you get the kill though (you'll see your kill +50pts, headshot +10pts, then marksman headshot +#pts)

Where to see that marksman headshot score?
It's one of the scores/stats added to your kill. If you do a headshot you'll receive +10 for the headshot and +x for the "marksman headshot" (i.e. headshot on far away target (not sure how far, but there's a minimum range where you will get "+10 headshot" only). The further you shot, the more bonus points "marksman headshot" will net you.

How does the spot gadget work?
It's rather easy if I didn't misunderstood it/overlooked something:
- Without the gadget: 1x social button (e.g. Q) will spot one enemy unit (infantry or vehicle).
- With the gadget equipped: 1x social button (e.g. Q) will spot everything around your targeted position (infantry or vehicle). If enemy squads stand close one recon is able to spot the whole enemy squad for his whole team using Q only once.

My maximum so far has been 156 or so. ;) I love backstabbing people but quite often I just try to reach some hidden position not too far away from MCOMs to be able to take out some enemies and be a viable spawn in position for the rest of my squad.

And what about throwing motion mines? Some recon throws a motion mine into the MCOM building, tagging all enemies inside, receiving points if they die. You'd rather not know where those enemies are? If some recon is playing sniper 1000 m away from the action he won't be able to throw the motion mine that far anyway. ;)

241. On Isla Inocentes from the first mountain in front of where the Attackers begin to the second base the Defenders have. I read somewhere that a Marksman shot is anything over 100 meters, and its a point per meter after that. Not sure if thats correct, but that means it'd be a 341 meter shot, or 1118 feet.

I died just before taking the first 2 M-COMs and re-spawned all the way in the back...ran up to the sniper hill, zoomed in to look around and there was a guy on the ramped part of the oil pipeline way back and to the left, nearly out of bounds behind the second two M-COMs. Was pretty far so I decided to take a pot-shot at him, aimed 2 dots above him and got the headshot :)

Unfortunately I also hit rank 13 and the magnum ammo doesn't seem to be available to me...

I don't know if it's my highest, but it was definitely tricky.

Atacama Desert with the M95 Sniper normal scope, we were moving on B and I was spotting and shooting from A. All the way opposite from me was a Sniper that was shooting on B. I literally just couldn't see anything but his muzzle flash and the spotting marker. It took about 3 shots to get sighted in, but when I finally hit him, it was about 200pts.

Another difficult shot was on Panama Canal, picking snipers off of C from the East with the SVU 12x, which is tricky since it takes two shots to the head plus the sun is in your eyes, however it worked; they never found me to shoot back, it forced them off the roof and made taking C easier.

on arica harbor, i was defending on sniper rocks shooting into attacker spawn, with the M24

took me about 3 shots to get dialed in, but sure enough i got an enemy sniper. i believe it was the 3rd mil-dot, travel time was almost 1 second. was a great shot. my second highest is +389 on valparaiso, attacking in the lighthouse shooting up the hill into defender spawn.

While I don't really want to pick a side in the argument, how can you say he wasn't helping? All those folks he killed in a single round? Definitely made it easier on the rest of his team to get into place and take objectives. Or he stopped folks on their way to an M-COM or on the outskirts of an objective as they went in to take it, etc.

Overall I'm just suggesting that there's a point when you're helping even if you don't go for objectives. Not always the case, but you can't rule it out.

I was way in the back of the US base, some russkie player was on the vodnik laying down fire with the heavy MG turret. All I could see was the muzzle flash of the machine gun. Pistol works, Shotguns don't.
I haven't gotten it with M60 either. And haven't seen anyone getting it with assault weapons either.

well not sure if this counts. island inocentes 2nd set of mcoms and i out sniped a sniper on the middle island (he was on US and i was RU) using an rpg7.

on that map with the light house (rush map) at the 2nd US spawn i rpged a sniper on the 3rd floor of the light house.

this would break the game to a degree. cos if you shot someone at 200m suing any of the AR or Sniper rifles then you would be asking "why is my bullet dropping?".

i started using it. i find sometimes my aim is directly at the head of a stationary target (compensated for bullet drop and all) but still miss, usually i find when i do miss the bullets veer off to the left, usually 1-3cms from your crosshair. i use it cos its something different.

around 130 from the beach by the town on Arica Harbor, up the hill to the watchtower by attackers second spawn area (where the russian tanks spwan on first Mcom).

Around 100 with the GOL, but I mostly snipe medium-range. Otherwise my motion detectors are worth **** and I can't keep up with my teams progress. Still really effective if you know how to use a handgun after the first CQC-HS from the GOL ;)

I have had many Marksman Headshots with my NS2000+slug setup.

Wrong. (your first statement at least)

I think the confusion is stemming from the fact that people don't realise that you can only get Marksman Headshots when playing as Recon. Any weapon you use as a Recon is capable of obtaining a Marksman Headshot.

Back on-topic; 270 is my highest - Arica Harbour, M95.
172 is my best with the NS2000.. :p
