I see no difference graphic wise from Fallout 3... maybe a few added terrain details but it's a tad disappointing.

Obsidian isn't very big on making their own engines, so I wasn't really expecting a new one.

Something better be revolutionary if I'm going to dish out another $50 on what should probably be an expansion.

I don't think, that the Fallout Engine needs an upgrade at the moment.
Have you ever tried to play on everything maxed out?
It is really great eyecandy.

Wow, I thought they weren't going to make any more Fallout 3 expansion packs...

Grey supermutants and shoulder-through-paldron glitch aside, good find on these. +rep

This is NOT another DLC for FO3. New Vegas is a stand alone game being made that is about the same size and depth FO3 was.

Sure it might use mostly same engine and some models but a lot more looks like it’s in store for this game when it comes out.

I was expecting a bit more, maybe some interface changes, or something new done to vats (i.e target kneecaps, elbows, + being able to target body parts with melee.) I do dig the companion menu and the new skyboxes, however they don't justify a full priced game. I guess we'll see as more is released.

I really hope they've fixed the crappy player physics, since this is the same engine as Fallout 3 and Oblivion.

For christ's sake. I'm so sick of seeing this thrown out every time a new game is replaced. News Alert, dip♥♥♥♥s, Engines are made to be the base of many games. Their very purpose for existence is being the base of the mother ♥♥♥♥ing game. So yes, they're going to reuse engines. Yes, sequels will likely end up on the same engine, unless the engine is aged beyond practical use. I don't get this. Do readers ♥♥♥♥♥ when an author makes a sequel that consists of mostly the same characters, and is in the same world and everything? I don't think so, or LotR wouldn't be nearly as popular. So where the ♥♥♥♥ does this idea that a game sequel (or new installment in a series) needs to be entirely new? Especially when coming from the heritage of Fallout. From RPG's. Where one of, if not the, biggest element is the damned story and the world it takes place in. ♥♥♥♥.

Count me in, I enjoy FO3 the story line and how it plays out. By the way, any good game developer and game critics will tell you it all about the story line in this games, not which engine it built on. Yes you can have a good story bad eng. or bad story good eng. I sure [me going to get] bought [going to buy] BioShock II and won't sit there and say "can't buy that game, it built on the same eng. as BioShock I."

Ok so lets look at what we got here.
The people in one screenshot have suits from Vault 21.
The Super Mutants are grey, so I assume they will be the kind from the first couple of games.
There is now a gulf clob.

Man, I hope a lot of that texture work is just place holders for their own stuff, because right now this is looking a lot like Fallout 3 down to the individual textures used on the roads and environments.

Definitely looking forward to New Vegas, I have 200+ hours into FO3, but hopefully they're going to have more original texture work than I'm seeing here.

Looks very similar to the Fallout 3 from a graphics and UI standpoint. Still looking forward to it, however. Hopefully there's enough change and content to justify retail price as opposed to an expansion.

well, I would like at least new meshes... and textures... it looks like an expansion pack, probably Mothership Z had more new contents...

No, it really didn't.

New Vegas will feature new enemy factions and types. More than double the amount of weapons that was in Fallout 3, plus a weapon modding and upgrade system allowing you to use a single gun that you like throughout the game rather than ditching it for the newest model. Much improved companion controls and fleshed out companions that have quests, loyalties to ingame factions. Likely a new voice cast since this isn't being made by Bethesda (but that's not confirmed).

But hey, if you want to keep spouting uninformed bull♥♥♥♥, be my guest.

Looks alright.... Actually it just looks like Fallout 3 again. Was hoping at least for environment and object shadowing to be added this time around but oh well!! I'm sure they will boost the HDR/bloom to compensate for that again!

Why are they releasing this as a separate game? Why not just make it a dlc and go "oh hey look theres now a plane ride that you can take from the top of rivet city that will take you to the nevada desert! lets go! yay!" the next time you play your character?

Though i wish they had used a new and better engine i know i'll spend hundreds of hours playing new vegas. It's not an expansion at all.

The looks have a different flavor to them. A different atmosphere. I like it. It's subtle but it's there. I'm sure it'll be a lot more recognizable in the game itself. Maybe I'm just nostalgic for Vegas vacations.

It won't be revolutionary, but it's being made by Obsidian, which is the company that rose from Black Isle's ashes, the guys who made Fallout 1 and 2, many of their staff worked on those.
In short, it's probably going to combine the mechanics of FO3 with what made FO1/2 great.

I want this game a lot, I have enjoyed all of the Fallout games, accepted that Fallout 3 would be different but I still loved it and spent endless hours in the game world doing stuff

I hope New Vegas is as at leas the same size as the capital wasteland and there are a lot of things to do etc, all the new information I have heard so far sounds great, will actually have some prized weapons beyond simple unique ones

don't mind if its the same engine etc because my PC can run it no problems and I know that I will spend a hell of a lot of time playing it just like I did FO3

Would people please stop saying "Be nice if they added so and so" or "It won't be good because I'm assuming..."

Seriously. They aren't done with it. They are still making it. Make a detailed Lamborghini out of clay. If I looked at it the first minute, is it going to look perfect?

who knows, I think it was more like a carbine, but there are supposed to be way way more guns in New Vegas than in FO3

A lot of the screenshots actually make the graphics look worse than Fallout 3, IMO. I'm cool with them being the same, but getting worse seems odd.

I mean, look at this one (http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/22380/ss_7cf86a5e4c98db502ca36444d883f94c4147f5d2.1920x1 080.jpg?t=1276178359). Not only does it just look kind of bland, but check out the sharp edges on those stone pillars. Just makes it look pretty dated graphically.

MrChris

those are the teeth from the dinosaur :D

it will likely look the same, but ofc the PC version we will be able to run it at extremely high settings quite comfortably

wonder if they have added any visual tweaks though
