Hey guys.

I'm looking for anyone who's played Last Remnant and Final Fantasy 7 or 10 (the only ones I played) to tell me how the story and characters compare. I played the demo a few months ago and I'm not worried about the gameplay. All I need to know before buying this on the £15 deal is if the character development and plot etc are of the same standard as FF.

Cheers.

This game basically has no story - which is sad, because it could've turned the game into a classic.

I liked to story in the game, from what I've played in the xbox version (about 5 hours) I's a classic, good guys have to kill the big evil bad guy story. Like most Final Fantasy Games.

The only FF-related game from SE I've enjoyed, and I have played quite a few.

......Trying to ruin someones credibility while proving you yourself have none. I like it.

I think he is wrong, but wtf. This not a FF? Do you see Final Fantasy: The Last Remnant in the title?

Yes it does have a story, the story is good but not as great or deep as say ff3/6.
It's made by square-enix, but is not part of the FF series and does not contain (most) of the things you normally see in an FF game.

Damn. That's kinda disappointing. I bought the game thinking it will have a great story just like most SE titles.

This isn't entirely a traditional jrpg. What sets it apart from games like final fantasy and such is that you command a small army instead of individual heroes, and they have a lot of free will instead of following your orders to the letter.

If you sit down with it and expect a "game like final fantasy only with a new story", you're going to be knocked on your bum a bit.

Don't get me wrong, the game is good, but will disappoint you if your expecting a FF style game. Rather view it as a good game that isn't connected to FF at all. Also in the beginning western players might get a little creeped out by how freely the (also male) marquis shows his 'affection' for the main character.

The gameplay itself however is innovative and has more in common with 'commander mode' in the romancing saga then FF games. Also the world is quite large and looks very beautiful. And the voice acting is nicely done. The (non generic) characters do indeed have character development and there are side-quests where you learn more about them and their history that also improve their combat abilities somewhat. Given the amount of effort that went into this game its quite worth the 20 euros/dollars for it.
