Who is really Alex Quick?

http://www.moddb.com/games/killing-floor/features/killing-floor-interview-alex-quick

What exactly does it mean that he was the leaddesigner of the original UT2004 KF? He did the mod all by himself? Is he a wizkid?

The lead designer for a mod is just like the lead designer for anything else. He comes up with the idea for the game and then gets other people to make the models, maps etc.

OK, so now TWI owns KF and Alex Quick ( and maybe others ) get royalties?

Or TWI bought the full rights to KF with a clumpsum?

This information is expected to be confidential ( i dont want to know anyway, then it is none of my business ), so we in the forum can only amuse ourselves with speculation.

Ahhh, come up with an idea and sell it? No, cant be enough. Must at least have some kind of prototype, just like with any invention?

Anyway, i dont believe KF would have been what is is today without the involvement of talented people. Cause my impression of the personnel at TWI is that they are in fact talented and this is in reference to their products.

I have not played RO, but i have seen youtubeclips and it does not either seem to be haphazardly done.

Alex Quick made a wise choice, it seems. Good for us!

alex was the lead designer,

-he created the characters
-he did all the maps
-he modeled many of the static meshes and weapons

pretty much did all the art for KF. it was usually him and one other guy. the other guy would do the coding/programming. Alex has done far more than just, "come up with an idea" as someone said earlier in this thread.

hes had one of the biggest parts in KF, more than TWI or anyone else. without Alex, there would be no KF, no game for TWI to release.

KF mod was beginning to die, but luckily TWI saw how much fun it is and bought it from him. here is a link to Alex's next game DEPTH.

look at his work and leave him lots of nice comments, because without him there would be no KF.

I've been keeping tabs on Depth for a little while now. It looks extremely promising. One of the indie games that I'm most looking forward to.

I have to thank Alex Quick for KF, then. Thank, you!

I've been playing KF for about 4 months now, I'd never heard of Alex but now that I have... kudos and +rep for him. Also I'd not heard of Depth but it looks sick!

From the replies in this thread, i get the impression that you know him personally?

Even if that is not the case, do you perhaps have some more information for the qurious mind?

For example, do you know how he got the idea for KF? Did he spend long time before realizing his idea?

I have no idea how Depth is going to play but I do know that justfilth is making maps for it so it should definately be something interesting.

Depth sounds cool. just imagine playing as a shark! was there a game like this before?

The sharks must have lazer devices attached to their heads. That's the one thing that would make me spend any amount of money to buy it.

go here, the first post is alex telling the history of killing floor. this was back in 2005, ten days before 1.0's release.
