Valve at E3

So we've been hearing all this talk and speculation about Valve at GDC, but haven't really elaborated hugely on their presence at E3.

Face facts; E3 is the Alma Marta of video games. It went through that period of logistics bull♥♥♥♥ but now has come full circle back to it's true form (you know, the one we all loved so much that we'd stay up until 3 in the morning to watch the conferences? Timezones suck :o).

I see things like this: Valve won't open the floodgates today. They have had some sort of presence at E3 every single year. I doubt they would throw away any huge announcements (Half Life 3 or Episode 3, whichever it may be), so sadly, I have to accept that we won't see anything significant until June.

Speculate away; What will Valve have for us at E3?

It's a given, they have to. Still..that's what everyone expected at E3 2009. I don't feel like getting burned again so badly like back then..

I've often thought we should all just go to GMT (since it's already the standard for lots of things). But even if your clock would say 1:00 p.m. (for example), it might still be 3:00 a.m. for you... :)

Although I want Ep3 news, highly doubtful. They went to too much effort with the ARG and so forth NOT to promote Portal 2 with most effort. Lets be honest, Portal 2 is a great game and one Im sure to purchase but it is not half life. Ep3 deserves a bigger stage than portal 2, so my gut feeling is Ep3 sometime 2011, don't get your hopes up about any significant info until maybe towards the end of this year.

We all love surprises though, and with valve you never know what they are planning. lol

To be honest, I think the ARG approach they took with Portal 2 would have been better suited for Episode 3. There are millions of people anticipating the unveiling of Episode 3, or even the smallest bit of information about it, that something like the ARG that they pulled off would have been the perfect way to tease us. Episode 3 is very, very important because it's going to end a fascinating story (arc) and so it really does have to go out with a bang.

Portal is a great game, yes, and as much as I feel that it didn't deserve a sequel in so much that I felt 100% satisfied with the original game, I will still be happy to play it when it comes.

I'm sorry. POrtal 2 is perfect for ARG/ Apertruescience.com was the first POrtal ARG tried out by VLAVe that I can recall and it's fitting that it should continue. The game itself lends itself to ARG very well.
Half Life on the other does not lend itself so well. You cannot add something to Episode 2 without ruining it. sm

I agree that it is perfect for Portal, but when it first came around I thought it was for Episode 3.

But it would be an unexpected surprise.

Portal 2 most definatley. Episode 3 wont be herd of at E3 at this stage but we may get info soon one hopes
