I want to purchase portal (I used to have orangebox for 360, but sold it) for my pc. But I refuse to pay 20 for a game that comes as an add-on next to things like TF2.
So I was wondering if we could petition valve to lower the price. Something very short, like a one weekend deal like they did with TF2 a few times, 2.49 weekend.

Why not just buy the orange box? Duh.

This, it's only ten dollars more and you get five epic games.

Portal is worth the price. And you can gift the other games if you want. Just buy it.

I bought portal for 20, and later the OB for another 40.
I still feel I haven't paid ENOUGH. The games are WORTH THAT MUCH.
Think of this: lose 3 lattes at Starbucks. That's Portal you just saved up for.
For the folks who seem to think that 20 bucks for a game of this caliber - and not to mention one which just had an added dimension put into it with the newest updates - is too much.... seriously. It IS worth that much. If you blast through 40 or 50 dollar console games (and I'm guessing you do, which is as much a presumption on my part as the other thread's OP saying 'most of us didn't buy portal separately') you're going to blast through whatever other games you buy. 20 bucks is cheap for a game which has the huge support, mod availability, and sheer fun that Portal does.
So drop a couple coffee shop visits, lose the redbull for a day or two, and you've got enough to buy portal by itself.

I know Portal 2 has been announced only recently, but still, that means there will either be a sale, package or the Orange Box will get an update. Since I'm waiting for the OB to get update with EP3 I might as well wait for this one, too LOL.:D

Only in accordance with this. (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4502-TPJL-2656)

The computer version has advantages like console commands and downloadable maps. The flash version mappack had quite a bit of content, even had a boss battle.

Exact same thing for me. Except that now that I've paid over $200 for most of the games in the Valve complete pack, I kinda wish I had just bought that.

Well sometimes you only have a little money and a single game is the only option. The gods love to have sales after a purchase. They are cruel. Since there are no longer blood sacrifices they have to get their fun elsewhere.

The Orange Box comes with HL2 and current episodes. If they qualify for gifting, you can easily charge a friend a small fee for it. To "donate" to your cause if you will.
I'm glad I never got HL2 when it came out and discovered The Orange Box...
