I'm about to have a new rig with enough horsepower to comfortably run most of today's games on high settings on a 30-inch monitor. But I'm a bit concerned that a 30-inch monitor would be overkill, and possibly even detrimental, if I can't even see the whole image without moving my head back and forth constantly.

So...anybody out there with a 24-inch monitor wishing they had a 30-inch while playing FPS's? Anybody with a 30-inch happy/not happy?

Thanks in advance.

I have a 24 inch. 30 wouldn't fit on my desk and I'd have to sit farther to see the whoel screen...haha.

IMO 24"

24" I have a 26", Samsung T260 and I know I miss things because so much of the screen is in my peripheral vision. My son's computer has a 22" monitor, and IMHO it's better for gaming.

Thanks folks - very helpful. Was leaning toward 24" to begin with, but had that nagging suspicion that I'd regret not taking advantage of my comp's full potential for the next year or two.

Happy Saturday night gaming!

I have that monitor, it seemed too big for the first day or so, but then you get used to it. it's perfect. My friend at work has it also and he too loves it.

Probably going to go with the Dell U2410 - same resolution, but only 24"...

hey mate i got 24" it owns. I have a friend who uses 30 inch. However you have to turn your head from one side to the other to get the whole picture (this wastes precious time in fps like mw2 were you will just be dead asap). Unless ofcourse you sit a fair distance away from it.

24 inch in my opinion, its also cheaper.

28" seems like it would come with the same problems as 30". And while I'm not a huge fan of Dell's customer service, their monitors in general, and the U2410 in particular, seem to be well reviewed. I certainly don't have any complaints regarding my 20" Dell monitor...

I'm playing on a 12.1" netbook display... <_<

At home, though, I do have a 20" display for my desktop, and it's a great size. I think 22" or 24" would be great as well, but on a desk, I really think 30" is pushing it, unless it's really far back.

depends how close you will be to the screen as well, anything around the 1 meter mark, I would say the 24 would probably serve you well.
