what happened at GDC? I missed all of it and i'm curious if anything was announced. Thanks a bunch

gabe was about to start a slideshow and answer questions about the arg when he got a BSOD

it was actually a fake bsod, and would flicker between a normal bsod and one that said stuff like "GLaDOS, press any key to flood the enrichment center with neurotoxin" and that stuff, it contained some kind of code that when translated to english said

Suspended until E3

which means at e3 we'll get a trailer or something or another ARG clue

Depends on the maintenance of the windows installation. On a bad maintained system that can be common.

GDC (San Francisco, CA) - March 9-13, 2010 (5 days)
GDC Canada (Vancouver, BC) - May 6-7, 2010 (2 days)
GDC Europe (Cologne, Germany) - August 16-18, 2010 (3 days)
GDC Austin (Austin, Texas) - NOT KNOWN YET
GDC China (Shanghai, China) - NOT KNOW YET

E3 2010 is set to take place on June 15, 16, and 17 at the Los Angeles Convention Center .

ARG stands for Alternate reality game, it basically means rpgs in the real world, actually the game world IS the real world. ARG devs will hide codes in messages, clues on sites and even images in sound files.

Is this true? Cus i saw a video and it didn't look like it was flashing but also i could only see the corner of the screen.:(

there's no garuntee that valve will actually announce anything irl at e3. it could just mean the ARG will be reinstated at some point while e3 is going on...

If it commonly happens to you then you need a new PC. Havent seen a BSOD on my PC for years..

Albeit, I work at a PC repair shop, so I see it every day on other PCs.
