Wierd crash when only when running DOW2 from CR

Have both DOW2 and CR on Steam. Though listed as 2 separate games in Steam, the game seems the same whichever startup you use (DOW2 or CR), giving access to both campaigns and MP units, keeping the same settings etc.

However, have noticed that the game occasionally crashes to a black screen when I run it from the CR startup, but always runs fine from the DOW2 startup. Can't figure why this is if it is the same game being loaded every time.

Ideally would like to remove one of the redundant games listed (preferably the one that crashes) but not sure if that would actually remove content from the other. Also not sure if it makes a difference when doing a backup which game (DOW2 or CR) you make the backup from (seeing as they both seem to load the same game).

No idea about your bugs, but COH from Relic is the same. All the games are activated (unlocked) through the main game, but you can use any to start it up. I wish they would give us just the one start option in these cases. Probably like this incase the normal one was activated using a retail copy.

If you get rid of one game, it will kill the other. They both use the same data. Likewise, you only need to backup one game since the only difference is related to your GfWL account.

It's weird that you're having crashes with only one game. Even though the gameID's are different in Steam, they're both launching from DOW2.exe in the game folder. Try deleting DOW2.exe and then verifying the game cache for CR through Steam (sometimes when you verify cache, it doesn't do anything unless it discovers missing files).

Thanks for the info all. Normal verify found nothing, so did the dow2.exe delete + verify - the in-game crash now seems to have gone, though now Win7 still reports a crash after exiting the game (not such a big problem).
