View Full Version : Shouldn't this game come with the Orange Box?

Since the people who bought hl2 when it first came out got this game for free, shouldn't the people who bought it in a package get it too? I really need CSS to be able to play on most gmod servers, and it's becoming quite annoying.

It never was intended to be part of The Orange Box, even though the original retail release of Half Life 2 came with Counter Strike Source.
There are retail versions of Half Life 2 available now which do not included Counter Strike Source.

Since it isn't on The Orange Box engine, no.
(I know the 360 version of it uses the engine on all the games, not sure if the PC version does since I don't own it)

Why? I find it fine as is, and no need to try to upset the community.
From what I've noticed, the CS community are veerry picky people, and disturbing them isn't a good idea :p

I agree there absolutely no reason what so ever to port CSS to the orange box engine it would cause more harm than good.

The only reason CSS came with HL2 was because HL2 had no real multiplayer of its own when it first released, and they wanted people to be able to play some sort of multiplayer Source game until HL2 DM would release.

Better netcode and multi-core support does more harm? I don't see what type of NEGATIVE gameplay changes there could be. The game is already broken enough as it is, and if the fans get pissed over Valve finally doing something, that's their asses.

Yeah we really need a CS with good netcode and graphics. Could bring everyone from 1.6 and CSS.

Hmm, didn't know the game was broken? How do you figure this out? You getting error codes when trying to log?
*logs in game* Nope, it's working perfect for me :)

Like I said before, and most would agree that the CS community is very picky. Why would they want to try to fix something that isn't broke? It doesn't have such a large community, long lasting, and amazing gameplay because it needs new mechanics.
What new weapons would you like in this type of gameplay? Missle launchers? Noob tubes? skins for guns? Let me know, as I think it has most of the guns needed in any FPS :)

Not really, anyways, buy the game at a retail store. I found Counter-Strike:Source for 20$ with DOD:S and HL2DM, I call that the OB of multiplayer.

How is this game broken? That is a ridiculous statement to make. So thousands and thousands of players are enjoying a broken game. Porting to the OB engine will never be a good idea. If Valve thought this would be profitable and feasible don't you think that they would have done it in the same time frame that DODS was upgraded or included it in the orange box release? It's been 6 years people, either play the game the way it is or move on.
