Vanilla crazy cake achievement won't unlock.

Hey guys,
first time posting something on the steam forums. I was just wondering if someone can help with a problem. The "vanilla crazy cake" achievement won't unlock on steam. I tried playing all the advanced maps again and reinstalling the game. It showed up in game as "6/6 advanced maps completed" but still locked. Recently it did get unlocked in the game itself after I got the radio achievement but steam still didn't register the achievement.

If you've got the radio achievement, you can delete the file Steam\SteamApps\your-name\portal\portal\gamestate.txt.

Then you'll have to replay one of the maps for the achievement and it should be fixed. (I think you can replay any one of the maps.)

Word of warning, deleting the gamestate.txt file will reset any unfinished achievements (this is why it will fix vanilla crazy cake). If you have unfinished gold/silver medals you are working toward that would be annoying to say the least.

It worked! thanks so much guys.
I only had 2 or 3 gold medals and nothing else in particular. I can easily get those medals back.

Word of warning, deleting the gamestate.txt file will reset any unfinished achievements (this is why it will fix vanilla crazy cake). If you have unfinished gold/silver medals you are working toward that would be annoying to say the least.

Thankfully is it not a problem with any of medal achievements. Each time you succeed in getting a medal, it uploads that specific accomplishment to the Valve server so you won't have to replay it if something does go wacko wrong with your system or you upgrade\rebuild the OS. Blowing away the gamestate.txt file causes very little problems. I have done it several times before I got all 15 acheivements, and the file always rebuilt itself without the lose of progress. :)
