Replacing mask filter adds 2 minutes to my time? Bug?

I'm currently on the chapter after the Market station, I was warned to bring filters and stocked up on a good few thinking each would give me a full 15 minutes to my time every time it gets replaced. Well, that doesn't seem to be the case as some are adding next-to-nothing to the time I can keep using the mask.

Anyone else getting this?

My mask isn't cracked at all, though. The game itself is also saying it's fine as it's not giving me the option to pick up other masks on the ground.

I never got more than 7 minutes of air time during my entire play of Metro 2033, despite there being a 15 minute max. I must've missed something.

I do know there are rare upgrades in certain Stations, though, such as improved body armor and filters. Might've just missed 'em.

are you playing on hard? because i also never had more than 5 minutes. was only playing dead city and came back with like 13 filters, so it wasn't really an issue, when you scavenge every ranger stash.

Yeah, I was playing on Hard. I never had an issue with running out of air -- it just would have been nice if I could have had the full 15 minutes per 3 filters, rather than multiple amounts of 5.

With a cracked mask and your filter running out your limited view and heavy breathing really add to the tension though. Sure it would've been nice but I guess the developers weren't exactly going for nice and cozy :D

My best mask gave me around 11 minutes!
I found it in D6

Aragh. I must now re-scour D6 and find that mask. ...not that I need to since I beat it, but. I'll probably attempt to do that later. Right now, debating about buying Call of Pripyat. x.x

Are there masks without cracks? I always had one with little cracks in the upper right and the lower left corner and if I had one of these on I couldn't exchange it with a new mask. So I guess they were as good as it gets.

Do you play on hard?
