I was thinking of something when I read through Game Informer's Portal 2 article, coming across those diagrams: What if someone made a game based out of that, flash or otherwise? A slower-paced, isometric puzzle game that uses some of Portal 2's mechanics. I certainly don't have the programming skill, but I think it would be a mighty cool thing to do.

The flash pack already does a side-scroller type.

But this is isometric. (http://www.personal.psu.edu/bjr231/IMG/isometric%20paper%201.GIF) There's a huge difference.

Well, isometric is basically in between 2D and 3D (and not that 2.5D crap).

If we're talking about doing this for P2 .... the game hasn't even been released yet. Let's wait and see what it involves, before begging other people to do things to it, eh?
Myself, I failed completely at the flash game. I also failed though less completely at the flash map pack version in portal itself. Isometric stuff doesn't impress me in the least except for pixel art - not interactive games. I've played enough of them to know that most people can't make a game with them for crap.

Portal came out.
Portal got a 'flash treatment' by some guys, where you play a side-scrolling version of portal-type stuff. It was not exactly the same as Portal.
People then converted said flash-game into maps for the full Portal game, as a mod (for the pc only, sorry console players... so far).
This mod was so good and so well liked, that the pack was adapted to the console release as "Still Alive".

This is a feature of every 3D game displayed on a screen.

Yes, and thankfully now we have much, much more advanced graphics. :)

Yes. I await the remake of Qubert.

.... *headdesk*
Games like Planescape: Torment are also mostly isometric. However, they're "good". Added textures and foreground gives the illusion of depth. They do move around a little on the z plane, but not much.
.... I played Qbert when it was new in arcades. But I much preferred Tempest.

Anything on a screen is a 2d picture of a 3d thing.
