In my experience Russians always cheat and break the rules as long as it shows they are Russian. In another online game country tags were not allowed and there were hundreds of players banned for having RUS tags. It's like they're so proud of finally having internet they have to show everyone.

Europeans are probably cheating now to "catch up", because their release date was a whole three days behind North America.

Or Stat padding, which isn't cheating and isn't detected by PB. Either way they aren't legit.

However I think VAC is good though, I wished PB and VAC could work together some day. PB takes care of them "easy" cheats that get detected right away, while VAC might catch a cheater if they didn't get caught by PB.

(Please notice, I have no idea how the cheat detection works, I only know PB bans right away, while it takes a few months for VAC to ban the user silently.)

They were probably banned for using something like Teamspeak Overlay... PB is notorious for not differentiating between injection based programs even though some are legitamate (like communication overlays).

You can... atleast I joined a server and got auto banned for not being from that country. I think it's a server option you can request.

VAC has a delay of days or weeks, not months. And unlike PB it doesn't have tons of problems and false positives kicking players who aren't cheating for no reason, and you never have to manually update vac.

I was trying to figure out what this is, and I think it's an aimbot (correct me if I'm wrong).

The other ban seems to be an MD5 check of the contents of the game directory to see if any of the files have been 'altered' in some way. Neat stuff.

I only play on a server that says Ping 10-40 for me, so this mainly happens in Texas servers, so I play there alot :P

The good thing about the VAC delayed ban is that it is better at making things harder for the organized paid hack sites. If the hack is suddenly resulting in bans, the hack site will immediately inform its subscribers to stop playing (or temporarily shut down their hack client) and wait for the hack to be modified over the next couple of days so that it is again undetected. With VAC, the hack site doesn't know if their hack is detectable until almost all their subscribers have been accumulated by VAC. Over a few weeks, VAC will silently make a list of all of the cheaters. Then there is a mass banning. With Punkbuster, only the few cheaters playing during the session when the hack was added to PB will be banned. Then the paid hack site takes action. As long as VAC is diligent in quickly adding the new hacks to their system, I think it is far superior to PB's instant ban.

I know damn well most if not all clanners use hax/cheats ..they always have their in-house cheats..and the clan leader pays for them..

Unless there really is clans out there that play legit.. all the ones I have met so far in this game are cheating their asses off with over 70+ kills per match..along with severe base ♥♥♥♥♥♥..

And if you get around them somehow and they dont see you right away ..you get shot from across the damn map with a headshot with a weapon that shouldnt have that range..

My clan never cheats btw, and i don't think many clans do (but we are in england, which didn't have a single banned person on that list). With regards to eastern europe, the whole scene of torrenting/pirating/hacking is bigger than the actual legit buying of games in some places. It doesn't surprise me that so many get banned.

I've never seen a hacker either, and hardly any in mw2. The moral of the story is to play in the UK obviously :)

From a community manager/administrator point of view I have to disagree on which is better. If you get hackers out there that nothing is done about for several days or weeks then you have all of that time legitamate players are getting frustrated with the game and the hackers are damaging the community. With the PB system they show up once and are gone for the most part.

May they come back? Yeah sure, BUT the community at least sees PB is doing something on a fairly frequent basis rather than like VAC when you have no idea if they are banning or not until they announce it, and by then the servers are full of them and the damage done alot of times.

If you look up the location of some of the server IP's, you will see a lot of them are in England. Seems like the Russians enjoy hacking you Brits.

Only in MW2 you'll see clans that cheats (and most of those clans aren't real), because there's practically nothing you can do about them.

Yeah, I know what you are saying, and the PB system would be great if it quickly detected new hacks, but it doesn't. At best, it also takes a few weeks to detect them. So in reality, you almost always have the same situation of legitimate players getting frustrated for a long period. Admittedly, VAC will add a couple of weeks onto this period, but should result in much fewer repeats afterwards. I still feel that the VAC concept is better at combating the organized paid subscriber hacks with sophisticated, auto-updating, streaming hack clients, and I think these are the most damaging hacks available. This is all assuming that VAC is as quick at adding new hacks to their system though, and that I have no idea. I imagine this involves kind of a spy network that actually subscribes to these hacks sites, and I don't know who has the best network.

Yeah, in my experience if someone is going around spending more time typing about how he/she is the best and how everyone else sucks is generally a sign that they have too much time in their hands. AKA they dont need to try.

Coincidentally I have personally met Clans in which the mere mention of cheating had gotten members kicked out. They take their hobby very seriously, nothing wrong with that of course.
