Just wondering if anyone who recently bought aion off of steam can shed some light on this for me.I am thinking about buying my brother a copy of aion but if i have to wait 48 hours for him to actually be able to play then i may as well just get the game from newegg when i order my naga next week and save a few bucks.
So will he be able to download right away and play or is he going to have to wait for it to activate?

what they should have said, is it may take 48 hours for you to get your steam copy of aion installed correctly and working. lol, im serious. as far as acount activiation and downloading, that was available for me instantly. i am still, after buying this game yesterday morning, trying various things to get aion to actually run on my high-end custom built windows 7 pc. good luck man.

I don't know why people keep saying stuff like this. With a decent connection it downloads fairly quickly (I let mine download overnight, but that was probably overkill) and I found it very straightforward and simple to go to the Aion website, create an account, and link my CD-key. Excluding the download time, I was probably playing in 10-20 minutes.
I suspect a classic case of Doing-It-Wrong.

nope. its most likely specific to certain operating systems or hardware configs. im glad it worked for you, but you could show a little compasion instead of just making assumptions.
yes, the account activiation was a breeze. no problems there. the download didnt take to long i have broadband cable. the issues started AFTER i downloaded it and set up my account. first there was an issue of the game not patching from 1.5 to 1.9
after a little searching on the web i found a fix for that though, just had to edit an .ini file. but now im stuck with the gameguard error 124, 153 after wich the NC launcher informs me that AION isnt available in the US (give me a break) and AION crashes. there is a support page up on the AION forums regarding gameguard error codes(complete pile of ****). instead of usefull info that could point me in the right direction of fixing it, the company that owns that 3rd party program just say some useless crap like "uninstall and reinstall the game 20 times, it should work eventually"
i have windows 7 home premium 32bit, an athlon II x4 630 quadcore, 4gigs of dual channel 1200mghz overclock RAM, and a nice ASUS Mobo. if anything its an incompatibility issue with win 7.
its still lame either way and there is absolutly no fault on my end.
