So is it a sequel or is it an expansion pack?

Mount & Blade: Warband is the eagerly anticipated sequel for the game that brought medieval battlefields to life with its realistic mounted combat and detailed fighting system. In a land torn asunder by incessant warfare, it is time to assemble your own band of hardened warriors and enter the fray. Lead your men into battle, expand your realm, and claim the ultimate prize: the throne of Calradia!

Mount & Blade: Warband is the eagerly anticipated stand alone expansion pack for the game that brought medieval battlefields to life with its realistic mounted combat and detailed fighting system.

Ok, so it is probably safe to assume that I do not need the original to play Warband, but does Warband include the single player?

I want to be able to play online, and I want to be able to play the single player, does that mean I need both? (D2D is currently offering a bundle pack with 10% off.)

Can someone please explain what you are getting when you buy warband?

I *think* and am actually pretty sure that warband is standalone and includes single player.

Warband will be stand alone and does include both multiplayer and single player. Although I have heard that if you purchase the original directly through them you might get a discount on Warband.

Stand alone, includes SP and MP.

I asked the discount thingy to the main dev he said they won't be able to do it.

Prepurchase is on Steam now, with a 10% reduction too. Surely it includes the beta?

If anything now, I would call this a complete "redux" of Mount & Blade. I know that'll make a lot of people angry, but hey it's only a $27 preorder for a game from a great independent developer who is very committed to the community.

The Single Player is very similar to the SP in the first game, of course with a new faction, rearranged map, graphics overhaul and some new features. The multiplayer is of course all new and I think it's very robust. It has at least 5 or 6 game modes.

But all in all I'd say it's a "redo". If this were a huge developer with a massive publisher, I'd say one could argue it should be free for owners of the first game, but hey...this is a small company that needs to feed families/etc, so I think it's unrealistic to expect that.

yes a mount and blade remix was what i was thinking as well, that d bag that made a thread saying it should have been a free update has no idea what goes into making things like this.they are more then enough content to warrant a 30 pricetag.if they made this content free they might as well close there doors since its been in developement for over a year.but there are gonna be cheap people who think they should release tons of new stuff to there 3 year old game that sells for 10 bucks..idiots lol

I was lead on to believe that multiplayer would be a free update a year ago when I bought mount and blade for full price. Oh well, I hope the developer hits it big and makes more great games.

You might have heard that from an unofficial source. We explicitly told everyone that we would not work on MP for the original M&B. There is even a huge thread about it somewhere in our forums. :)

Edit: About the sequel/Expansion Pack question: We did start out as an expansion pack, however we ended up working on this for over a year and a half, added lots and lots of new content and redid almost everything so it switched to being a standalone product. We nowadays call it "the next game in the series".

QFT. This is to support a small developer with a fun, unique product.

I believe all of the single player gameplay additions are already available in the modding community. There are even graphical overhaul texture packs that greatly improve the original's look. Hopefully this will be even greater looking, but it was never a game about looks.

Multiplayer is new but I can't see that being interesting at all. It's about the last thing I want in the game and considering how long they've been working on this I have to assume the MP stuff took up the bulk of their time, sadly.

Still love the game though!

np, devs are usually to busy reading forum posts about people bashing there game,a lot of people don't realize that they also love hearing people say they enjoy there product.
