Just bought a CnC4 Dvd, Can I stick it into steam?

I bought a Dvd version of CnC4 from my local shop.
Can i stick it into steam, so just in case I lost my Dvd, I can download from steam?
And when I am in game playing CnC4, I can use steam as chatting tool, if I can stick it into steam.

No, the CD Key won't work on Steam, so you can't stick it into steam the way you describe.

You can add it as a shortcut, by going to Games > Add a Non-Steam game to Library, and that'll get the steam chat in, but that's it
