We've no reason to believe anything about Episode 3 at this point, as you all well know. It's been a extremely well shaded mystery for years and the scant information we do know about it could be changed at the drop of a hat. Speculation threads abound, I am aware, but perhaps this will assist people in their theories and ultimately build unneeded hype to the game.
The majority of players, I think, have this state of mind for the beginning of Episode 3:
You're in the helicopter with a depressed Alyx headed for the Borealis. Something goes wrong with ze choppa and you crash and continue on foot.
Of course there's a whole lot of survival problems with that, especially for Alyx, but I have no reason to believe that the Borealis is our final destination in the game.
Sure, the great overwhelming power of it could knock us across the world to another rude awakening by the G-man, but that's Valve being predictable. Have they ever been predictable?
My guess is that we might actually leave the Borealis early on in the game, though I hope it will be the climatic high point of the experience, and try to return to White Forest as the main adventure. This could be either because of a malfunction, because you blow it up, or that you both really need to return to a normal life.
During that final bit, of course, will be the final Combine showdown and such. I only bring this up in the terms that I don't think that we'd make it on foot to the Borealis, which is no doubt miles to the North. It is much more likely we examine the landscape after arrival by ze choppa.
Thoughts? Questions? Flaming?
