View Full Version : Weapons losing ammo when dropped....

One of my smaller gripes about the game is when setting down weapons, for using as an ammo cache, putting them down for other players, or for setting somewhere to grab a free spawned weapon to put it in a better visible place for teamates.

Almost all Magazine weapons have this happen.

AA-12 gets 5 magazines of 20 shells, but dropped you lose 2 whole magazines (40 shells gone!@?)

Shotgun, can have 54 shells when full, if you drop it at anytime, it only keeps 40 shells.

Hunting shotgun can get up to 62 shells, and if you drop you only keep 44.

AK can get up to 14 magazines, dropped only keeps 10.

Flamethrower can hold 160+3 tanks, but dropped it keeps only 100 per tank and you lose 1 tank.

Hand cannon and 9mm lose half their ammo if you are using a single pistol and find another to get duals, you can set down your duals but if you keep dropping and picking up you can lose all but 1 magazine.

Then some weapons do keep their max ammo, or even get free refills.

Crossbow has 40, if you shoot it near empty, as long as another teammate picks it up, sometimes it gets a free reload back to 40.

Lever Action and M14 keep their full ammo when dropped.

Nade launchers seem to keep their max ammo even while dropped.

Bullpup & Scar keep their max ammo even while dropped.

Mp7 keeps its full ammo when dropped.

For Suicidal and even in Hard mode, I like to put down some extra weapons for teamates or for ammo later on in a round, and it really stinks when you put $$ into the ammo and weapon for a backup and you lose a bunch of ammo.

I realize that some of the issue is part due to Higher level players getting extra magazines, and a lower level player that might pick it up would have a lower ammo max, but it still needs fixing.

Can you Tripwire guys shed some light on this bug?

I don't know why, but in the time that this topic has been discussed over and over again, it's been agreed that this is just how Tripwire made the game. Whether the ammo reset was intentional or just a result of the design, it's part of the game now.

Try not to drop anything without needing to and you'll be set. On the other hand though, the accidental picking up of a second pistol reduces total ammo significantly is a problem many people have that seems to fall upon the same thing. So what do we do? We walk around them unless somebody drops it when killed...and we pick it up unintentionally.

yep
also, ammo pickups restore your ammo only to weapons default ammo level
if you have 40/54 as support you cant get more from ammo box

I can not even count how many times this happened to me. Some players even throw weapons at you and you loose most of the ammo :P

Perk bonuses will increase clip sise and spare ammo. When ou drop a weapon, the bonus ammo is removed.
