View Full Version : Smaller fix for stuttering and lag
03-24-2010, 01:08 PM
Edit the file C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts and add the following line:
This fixed my stuttering, lag and hanging. The game was trying to resolve the above address hundreds of times and failing.

If you don't want to block the program with your firewall, and if you don't want to modify your system hosts file, here's another (somewhat less elegant) fix:
1. Open FSW.dll (in Steam\steamapps\common\full spectrum warrior) in a text editor like Notepad. Before making any changes, make a copy of the file so you can restore if things go badly.
2. Search for "%s.available.gamespy.com". There should be exactly one match.
3. Replace "%s.available.gamespy.com" with any url of the same length that actually points to a server. I used my personal web site, but "www.example.com/fixes/%s" also works (the %s will be filled in by the program with "fswpc").
4. Save the file and start the game. There may be other problems (which I hope to address with future posts), but the lag should be gone.

synnoc's fix was great! hacking a .dll is a big pain in the rear compared to editing the host file. thanks synnoc!

Considering gamespy.com still has their logo in the game seems like they could just put the sub back on..
In any event, thanks for the info. I was stumpped on the stuttering problem.

Just wanted to add that Synnoc's fix worked for me. Thanks! BTW, is there anyway to get 1920 x 1080 resolution in this game?

Whenver i make the edit and launch the game I get this error :S
Any help or sending me their copy of FSW.dll would be excellent, thanks
edit: nevermind I used the small fix from the first post and that worked fine
Synnoc's solution works like a charm on Windows 7 X64.
