Could be Ubisoft's fault.

I heard it was an issue with UK (legally?) and the new DRM.

I heard it was an issue with UK (legally?) and the new DRM.

Whoever told you that is misinformed. Ubisoft have simply stopped selling all their new releases on Steam for the UK (and this happened back when Avatar was released).

The fact that it showed up on Steam prior to release in your region is simply down to the poor handling of regional restrictions by Valve. This too, is nothing new - Valve have been doing this for regionally restricted games since the very first one (which was Dark Messiah).

Aye, what Yotsuba said. If you really want this game via digital download there are 2 UK/EU sites you can get it from. Gamesplanet and d2d both have it. It still has the same connection based DRM though.

That's pretty shoddy. I was hoping to buy this game. Owning games on steam is a massive plus for a nomadic student like me and im not really interested in using other digital platforms. Oh well just lost a sale ubisoft, and im sure there are others in the same situation.

EDIT: OH WAIT AND IT HAS DRM! I will definately not be buying now and will tell anyone else the same! I remember when ubisoft used to be a good publisher.

I normally buy my games thru steam aswell but lately they have been getting even more stupid with the pricing so I have started getting the hard copy versions (DoW2: Chaos Rising for example, on steam £29.99, on play.com/amazon.co.uk £17.99 and all I need to put in is the code from the box, the CD never gets near the drive)

I've had it since last night in the UK. I bought it from the digital store that launches when you exit the demo. I pretty much knew it would disappear from Steam at the last minute for the UK so I went elsewhere.

It's great, btw. :D
